Right I have had enough of this, on another Basingstoke game, Start of 3rd Season all going well, all of a sudden BAM game stops CRASH DUMPS error and it wont load up again.
The SI support people are poor, they pretty much deny the problem and just advise you to update JAVA, Graphics Card Driver, Play in Windowed mode, or without Skin Cache, none of this helps I still get CRASH DUMPS.

Before anyone asks no, I do not use FMRTE, I'm aware that program also screws your saves, and pc to.

What I'm most annoyed about is that after searching and searching the web, no one has a clue what it is, not even SI (well SI deny it the same way Bishop Richard Williamson denied the holocaust)
How did this game make it through testing, was it even tested beyond a season ?
I'm just posting my frustration I know there is no known real support for CRASH DUMPS or any fix.
Its like Terminal Cancer for Football Manager once its happened your game is unplayable.

I wonder what FIFA Manager or the new Championship Manager is like.

i used to get crash dumps. ever since i started playing in windowed mode ive had no problems

I loaded FMRTE on the 10.2 patch just to browse through what It can do and thats when I had problems and have never used it since. I have been using the 10.3 patch and wont even touch FMRTE as things seem to be running ok.

I get my error while playing in window mode, with no use of fmrte, not that you should have to play it windowed mode to play the game but I do.

possible fix is to uncheck Enable data collection from general settings, this the memory uses constantly increasing and stops the memory leak dump
however there are more reasons that memory leak this game crash dumps

I too keep am constantly having problems with crash-dumps, and it seems to be happening more and more often to the point where I have to save my game after every day...yes game time...so that I don't have to replay that particular day.
I have tried the other fix you recommended in the "Post your frsutrations" thread, that seemed to work for a while, however it was just false hope. I am going to try this fix and I seriously hope it works, because being as unpatient as I already am, this is really starting to work on my ****...

There isnt really a way of telling the cause of a crash dump cos there are so many factors to consider but things like, skins, kits, facepacks etc can be the cause and in a few cases that i have seen after deleting some uneeded graphics the crash dumps dissappeared. Also close all programs before playing FM as that can also have an impact on it

well that dont work for me, I've lost all faith with SI, but I dont like the layout of Championship Manager, I'm downloading Fifa manager demo now, anyone know what Fifa manager is like

Dude Fifa Manager has lots of extras, however the management side of the game is terrible. I had FIFAM 09 and rarely managed to get into a game. I have tried re-installing and deleted all the kit packs, face packs, logos etc., and hopefully it will be fine now. Will let you know on Monday how its worked.

Hig, it would seem that my days of crash dumps are over :D. I deleted all the extra graphics which I downloaded, and unchecked enable data collection and everything seems fine.
Hopefully this will work for you as well...

im having that "dumps" too m8, its very frustrating. Then my friends told me too uninstall the game and then before you install it again you should install Java Runtime Environment (easy to search, latest version is not a must) give it a try m8, dont forget to untick the enable data data collection tab, its working well for me now, 10th season and going without "dumps" no more.

dont compress save game files as i got it and i just unchecked that and not had it since

Success sorted it, not had a crash dump in 6 months play now, And I've done everything I could to cause it to test its fixed.
As SI say Crash dumps errors can be a number of things, so my fix may not work for anyone else, bad thing about crash dumps is how ****** cryptic they are, the error report tells you nothing useful.

My Problem was I had some Faulty RAM, out of 4 Gb of RAM, one of the RAM Sticks was faulty, once I replaced that it was all good.
I have played now with DATA Collection checked, on full screen, with Skin Cache one, with Direct X and Java out of date, and I rolled back my ATI Drivers and no crash.
To test if your RAM is faulty or not run a program called memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com/ burn it to a CD, put it in your CD drive then Restart, it will scan and if it says your ram has errors (it will say which slot) remove or replace the RAM from that slot.

So I guess Football Manager is funny about RAM, if its not up to standard the game will spazz out, there is one cause for crash dumps I discovered :)
I no play the game with no fear :D

I have done lots of work lately on Fixing and researching Crash Dumps I will release a Crash Dumps Prevention Guide soon, listing what steps to take if you encounter crash dumps

That will be awesome, as I am sure there must be a whole lote more people suffering with this problem...
