Crawley Town are a team from Crawley in West Sussex, and a currently playing in the Blue Square Premier. They were formed back in 1896 and began life in the West Sussex League. In 1962 the club turned Semi Professional, and the following year joined the Southern League First Division. In 1969 the club gained promotion to the Southern League Premier Division, but it was short lived as they were relegated back down again. The club have enjoyed many cup successes, winning the Sussex Professional Cup in 1970, the Gilbert Rice Floodlight Cup in 1980 and 1984, the Southern Counties Combination Floodlight Cup in 1986, and the Sussex Senior Cup in 1990 and 1991. The Sussex Floodlight Cup was won in three consecutive years from 1991 to 1993 and also again in 1998/99. Despite several cup successes, Crawley's most successful cup run at the time was in the 1991-1992 season when they reached the The FA Cup third round proper. During the cup run they defeated Third Division Northampton Town at home 4-2 in the First Round. The club enjoyed a money-spinning tie with Football League neighbours Brighton & Hove Albion at the Goldstone Ground in front of 18,301 fans. In August 2006 it was announced that the club would fold due to their debts, and they came within an hour of the liquidation deadline. However, a last-minute rescue package saved the club and allowed them to carry on playing, albeit with a 10 point deduction for entering administration. For the start of the 2007-08 season a new regime was put into place which included Victor Marley as club Chairman and Steve Evans as manager, with Paul Raynor as assistant. The season didn't get off to the best of starts as the club was deducted six points due to their financial standing. Crawley finished the season in a respectable 15th place, and were runners-up in the Sussex Senior Cup, despite the club's financial position and points deduction. The main turning point for the club came in July 2010, co-owner Bruce Winfield said that all of the club's debts had been cleared. He further revealed that friends and business acquaintances of his had come onboard as passive shareholders and so the club had money in the bank. Manager Steve Evans had also been told to assemble a squad that could get into The Football League. Steve Evans will have have his work cut out now as he tries to get the club into The Football League.

Since Steve Evans found out that the board wanted a squad capable of achieving promotion to League Two he has brought in two new players to strengthen his squad.

The first player to arrive at Broadfield was Pakistan International Zesh Rehman. Zesh started his career of at Fulham in 1995 progressing through the clubs youth system. He was eventually deemed good enough, and in 2004 made his first team debut. In the 2003-04 season he was loaned out to Brighton and Hove Albion where he played 11 times scoring twice. He played a few more games for Fulham on his return before he left to join QPR for an undisclosed fee in 2006. Zesh spent 3 years at QPR making a total of 50 appearances in all competitions. During his time at QPR he had loan spells at Brighton and Hove Albion again, and also Blackpool and Bradford City. At the end of his contract he was released by QPR but 1 month later he signed permanently for Bradford City. At the start of the 2009-10 season Zesh was named as club captain, and went on to play 42 games and skipper the side on 35 occasions during the season. However he was then deemed surplus to requirements at the end of the season and Crawley signed him for £1k. Crawley fans have hailed Steve Evans for landing a real bargain in Zesh.

Hours later free agent Gauthier Mahoto joined Zesh Rehman in signing for Crawley Town. Gauthier was born in France in 1992 and joined Le Harve Academy in 2006. In 2008 he signed for Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee. His initial first six months at the club were disrupted by international clearance issues. Since joining Portsmouth, he has established himself as an essential member of both the academy squad and Guy Whittingham's development side. Mahoto came on as a substitute against Rangers in a pre-season friendly. In August 2009, Mahoto made his first-team debut coming in as a substitute for Richard Hughes in Portsmouth's 4–1 victory over Hereford in the Carling Cup. On the Last Day of the 2009-2010 winter transfer window, Mahoto signed a 2-and-a-half-year contract with French club SC Bastia. He didn't spend long there before joining Greek side AEK Athens, but was released at the end of the 2009-10 Season. At the beginning of the 2010-11 season Crawley town signed him on a 2 year contract.

After bringing in two new faces to strengthen his squad Steve Evans signed two more players.

The first player to join was Dominic Shimmin. Dominic started his career off at Arsenal in the youth ranks. He never really made an impression and left to join QPR in 2005. He made his debut shortly afterwards but he picked up a serious knee injury that prevented him from playing many more games. During his time at QPR he went on loan to Bournemouth where he played two game before injury cut his stay short. Dominic and QPR agreed to cancel his contract in January 2008. In February 2008 he signed for Crawley Town but again injury prevented him from making his mark, and he only played two games before leaving in March. In July 2008 Dominic tried his luck North of the Border and signed for Morton. Dominic was finally showing some decent form until he picked another serious injury in March 2009 which kept him out for 9 months. He finally made his return in December, but was released at the end of the 2009-10 season. Crawley Town then signed him for a 2nd time in July 2010. They will be hoping he can stay clear of injuries and make a big impact.

The 2nd player to join was Dutch winger Andule Pryor. Anduele started his career off at Eredivisie side Vitesse. During his time there he played 51 League games scoring 6 goals. During the 2009-10 Season he was loaned to Belgium side SV Roeselare where he made 5 league appearances. He was released by Vitesse at the end of the season, and he then signed for Crawley Town in August 2010.

During Pre-Season Crawley played 8 friendlies to help get the squad match fit.

The first friendly was against the reserves, this was put in place so Steve could take a look at his whole squad before the start of the season. The first team ran out 3-1 winners. They then played SPL side Hibernian. They were always on the back foot in this game and lost 3-1 They then welcomed Brentford to Broadfield. It was a very close game with both teams having chances but Brentford just edged it 1-0. They then travelled to Dover to play there first away fixture. Crawley were always the better team and it showed as the final scoreline was 3-1. Crawley then travelled to Gainsborough. It was an exciting game with both teams attacking and the final scoreline was 3-3. Crawley then hosted Scunthorpe at Broadfield. Scunthorpe showed there inferior class throughout and won the game 4-1. They then travelled to Worksop. It was a tight game with very few chances but Crawley won 2-0. The friendly for Crawley was against Fulham Reserves at Broadfield. Crawley played very well throughout but could only manage to draw the game.

When is the next update ?

Once I have finished August which will be soon so the next update will be in the next hour.

Now that Crawley Town had finished Pre-Season it was time for the season to start. The board want the team to win the league and get promoted to League Two. The pressure will be on Steve Evans right from the start to ensure that the expectations of the board are met. The start the season off with a trip to York City. They then welcome Bath City to Braodfield, before a trip to Hayes & Yeading. They then have 3 big games in a row starting at home to AFC Wimbledon, before an away trip to Wrexham. They then end the month of August with a home tie against Mansfield.

Crawley and York shared a goalless draw today. Both teams looked very nervous with it being the start of the season. There were no real clear cut chances created so a draw was a fair result.

Crawley picked up there first win of the season today against a resilient Bath side. Many people were expecting an easy win for Crawley but it was far from it, with just a Matt Tubbs goal to separate the two sides.

Crawley were easily beaten today by a side who really they should have beaten. Hayes & Yeading set the tone of the match with an early goal from Jake Hyde. Crawley had very few chances to level the match, and in the 90th minute Elliott Buchanan put the game beyond doubt.

Crawley picked themselves up today with a resounding 4-1 win against AFC Wimbledon. Crawley were 2-0 at half time thanks to 2 goals from Sergio Torres. It was 3-0 in the 50th minute when new signing Andule Pryor scored his first for the club. AFC Wimbledon then scored in the 72nd minute with Danny Kedwell getting the goal. In the end though it was Crawley who wrapped the game up with Matt Tubbs getting the goal.

Crawley continued there impressive form from there previous game with a good 3-1 win over Wrexham. It was Wrexham who also took the lead when Kevin Gall scored in the 52nd minute. It didn't take long for Crawley to hit back through Andule Pryor. Then 2 goals in the last 10 minutes from Chris Flood and Matt Tubbs sealed the victory.

After there previous two wins Crawley nearly made it 3 in there last 3, but Mansfield made sure they last with a point today. It took until the 65th minute for the deadlock to be broken when Dominic Shimmin scored his first for the club. The lead lasted only 9 minutes though as Danny Mitchley level the scores.

After 1 month of the season Crawley are sitting one place below the play off positions. The board want the team to win the league and they still have every chance, as they are only 3 points behind League leaders Cambridge.

After a reasonable start to the season for Crawley it was time for them to show they mean business. In the month of September they face Kidderminster, Histon, Kettering, Tamworth and Altrincham. All of these are winnable games and if they can win them all then the top of the league wont be far off for them.

Crawley missed two of there key players today and it showed as they were beaten by Kidderminster. Nick Wright open the scoring after 9 minutes. Crawley didn't have many chances to equalise and Nick Wright scored again in the 68th minute to wrap up all 3 points for Kiddermintser.

Crawley were back to there best today as they dispatched off Histon 3-1. Histon started off the better side and opened the scoring in the 9th minute through Danny Mills. Five minutes later Crawley levelled thanks to Matt Tubbs. Just before half time Crawley took the lead when Gauthier Mahoto scored his first for the club. The scored stay 2-1 until the 91st minute when Anduele Pryor scored to make the points safe.

Crawley were at there best again today as they beat Kettering 2-0. It was a close game from the start and it took until the 60th minute for the first goal of the game. Matt Tubbs scored his 5th goal of the season to make it 1-0. Five minutes from time the game was wrapped up when recent loan signing Will Keane scored to make it 2-0 and seal the points.

With there game against Kettering only 3 days ago Crawley showed tiredness today as they lost 1-0 to Tamworth. Crawley had a couple of clear cut chances throughout the game but they never looked like they would take them. The match looked like it was going to end a draw until Tom Marshall scored in the 93rd minute to win the game for Tamworth.

Altrincham and Crawley shared to spoils today as the game ended 1-0. Michael Welch opened the scoring today for Altrincham in the 10th minute. 10 minutes later Gauthier Mahoto levelled the scores for Crawley. Things got tougher for Crawley though when defender Adam Quinn was sent off on the stroke of half time. Crawley held on in the 2nd half and the game finished 1-1.

Crawley find themselves just inside the play off places but are 7 points behind league leaders Rushden and Diamonds. Crawley will need to put a run together soon to close the gap and overtake the leaders. They do have time on there side though as there are still 35 games to go.

Crawley picked up slightly in September but they were still 7 points behind league leaders. They will have to start picking up soon otherwise the play offs will be the best they can hope for. The first game of the month they face Forest Green, then a top of the table clash against Rushden & Diamonds. They then face 3 homes games in a row, 2 of them are league games against Newport County and Fleetwood Town. They then play Blyth Spartans in the FA Cup 4th Round Qualifying, before another top of the table clash this time against Luton.

Crawley got off to a great start this month with an emphatic win over Forest Green. Crawley got off to a good start and opened the scoring in the 10th minute thanks to Zesh Rehmann. Just after half time Crawley doubled there lead when Pablo Mills scored his first of the season in the 49th minute. Will Keane made it 3-0 in the 71st minute, and Matt Tubbs made it 4 in the 92nd minute.

Rushden & Diamonds today showed Crawley how it's done with a 3-0 win today. It was a close affair to begin with but in the 39th minute Michel Kuipers dropped it into his own net to give Rushden & Diamonds the lead. In the 62nd minute it was 2-0 thanks to Lewwis Spence. The game was wrapped in 85th minute when Ryan Charles scored to make it 3-0.

Crawley play a lot better today as they beat Newport County. It wasn't a great spectacle with many shots off target but 2 Richard Brodie goals in the 36th and 94 minute gave them all 3 points.

Crawley and Fleetwood played a 7 goal thriller with Crawley coming out on top 4-3. Fleetwood started the goal fest with a goal in the 4th minute through Brian Fairbairn. Ben Wright equalised for Crawley in the 21st minute. Richard Brodie and Paul Pogba scored before half time to make it 3-1 to Crawley. Lucas Atkins then made it 3-2 before Ben Wright scored his 2nd of the game to make it 4-2. Magno Viera then scored in the 80th minute to set up a tense finish but Crawley hung on to win 4-3.

Crawley beat Blyth 2-1 today to progress to the First Round proper of the FA Cup. It was a game many expected them to win as they were playing lower league opposition. They got off to a fast start and scored in the 4th minute thanks to Jamie Cook. Robert Dale levelled the scores in the 26th minute. Then in the 58th Dominic Shimmin scored to take Crawley through to the next round.

Crawley were on the receive end of a 4-1 thrashing against Luton. Luton were 2-0 up at half time through Claude Gnakpa and Danny Crow. It was 3-0 in 63rd minute when Claude Gnakpa scored his 2nd of the game. Crawley pulled one back in the 66th minute when Paul Poogba scored. Taiwo Atieno made sure of the victory when he scored in the 86th minute.

Crawley have narrowed the lead at the top to 6 points but find themselves out of the play off places. Crawley played poor against both sides that were above them in the league and if they are win to the league then there performances against those sort of teams need to improve.
