Creating tactics.

So far when it comes to creating tactics, I've been a bit of a hit & miss.

So I was just wondering, what the process is for you guys when you create tactics?
How in depth do you go in the tactics & do player instructions & team instructions work at the same time? Because I've never had success using both at the same time.
