Ronaldo was a striker, if you think Cristiano Ronaldo is a better goal-scorer than him than he's certainly a better better player than Ronaldo was, which I don't agree with. The numbers lie. Sure Cristiano is an all-time great and may have scored more goals than the original Ronaldo, but that doesn't make him a better goal-scorer.

You're completely contradicting yourself. If you score more goals, you're a better goalscorer. Simple really...

Arsenio Erico scored more goals than any of those guys, does that mean he was a better goal-scorer?

Of course it does. If they've scored more goals, they're a better goalscorer. But I mean over a consistent basis, not one season. Ronaldo's been scoring like this for 4 seasons now, Messi for 2/3.

Ronaldo's got the most goals in a La Liga season EVER. Meaning he is the best goalscorer in La Liga History over a season. Raul scored the most goals overall, and is the best goalscorer ever in La Liga.

Arsenio Erico scored 293 goals in 325 games, so I guess he's better than any of these guys?

The point I'm making is that it's stupid to just look at the numbers, just because you did the most of something doesn't mean you're the best at it. A number of other factors contribute to a player's statistics and you can't treat him like he's completely isolated and unaffected by what's around him on the field. The original Ronaldo was paired alongside Raul, who got a lot of the tap-ins, and didn't take as many penalties. Which is why he never got as many as this Ronaldo, who has the whole attack completely built around him.

If you think Cristiano is a better goal-scorer than how could you possibly think the original Ronaldo is a better player? He was a striker, so if he's not as good at scoring goals than surely he isn't as good of a player.

Erico is definitely a better goalscorer. Ronaldo was a better striker. Overall, Cristiano is the better player. Numbers don't lie.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the best goalscorer over a single season in La Liga history. Fact.
Cristiano Ronaldo hit 66 league goals much faster than Ronaldo did. (94 games to 62 games).

Ronaldo was the ultimate striker. Cristiano Ronaldo is the ultimate player.

.

I dont want to get into player vs player debate again. But thats nonsense point if you are trying to take away any credit from Ronaldo. He is good enough to carry the attack, hence the attack is built around him. Just like Messi (Not comparing).

Anyways on topic, what Ronaldo has achieved really deserves lot more credit than he got. He has now scored most number of goals in a single La Liga season. Thats absolutely terrific achievement considering the quality players who have played in the league..

Also, unless Messi scores twice vs United at Wembley on Saturday then Ronaldo will also have the record for most goals in a single season in all competitions by any player in a Spanish team (maybe even any team, but I'm not 100% sure)..

I'm stuck in two minds about the lad, my theory of disliking people who join R.Madrid is hindering my decision, but kudos to him, he can only go on and break even more records.

When he first moved to United and I saw him trying tricks I knew he would be class. Didnt realise how class he would become though. Pointless tricks are mainly gone and replaced by a ridiculous goal scoring rate. Amazing.

Rio did an interview in January for an online show called SBTV, and he was asked who was more skilful between Ronaldo and Nani. Rio said they were different, as Nani likes to make his man look like a fool by stopping and starting him then beating him. Ronaldo used to be like that, but Fergie saw his shooting and told him to stop beating the man more than once and to just concentrate on beating him if necessary then getting his shot away. That's the reason he shoots so much and scores so much.

Nani used to annoy me though, it was as if he was trying to copy Ronaldo all the time. He has matured now though.

YouTube - ‪Cristiano Ronaldo Debut‬‏ I'm sure you will remember ;) this match made me follow him, right from the start!

Ahhh, the days with the highlights, braces and spots!!

Its this stuff hes pretty much cut out - YouTube - ‪Cristiano Ronaldo dribble in 93rd minute against Arsenal‬‏ (although I do love seeing this kind of thing!)

I'd still stay Ronaldo is more skillful than Nani. WHat an achievement though, some ****** player. As much as I dislike him, he's ******* awesome.

RT @RMadridinfo:
Cristiano Ronaldo donated 30 ME for Somalia's food crisis [@RMAfacts]

Love how people call him arrogant when they don't even know him or all the charity work he does. He also sent some gift to Child who was severely ill..

30 Million Euros is huge huge donation.. Good work Ronnie..

While that is a lovely, admirable gesture, it doesn't mean he's not an arrogant ***** at times. Mario Balotelli stopped a kid from being bullied, and while a lovely thing to do, doesn't mean he can no longer be considered an arrogant *****.

On field yes, off field No. I have seen lot of United players saying that.

That's what I mean. The reason people dislike Ronaldo is because they see more of the on-pitch arrogance, diving, etc than they do of the genuinely brilliant charity he does off the field.

Yeah, but his charity works are really admirable. On field he maybe arrogant but as long as I hear these kind of stories my respect for hm will only grow. :)

How does that even compare to donating 30 million euros? Assuming there was any truth in that Balotelli story :S

I was just a comparison. :S Donating to charity doesn't mean you can't be considered a complete prat anymore.
