Well, in 11.2 crossing was pretty awful. Having a 1.91m striker with 17 heading he never scored more than a couple a season from crosses (Open play of course, set pieces were a different story...). I've seen people, in particular 'Pool fans saying they can't get Carroll to score, while some others say they can. Long story short, has crossing been improved? Is it a viable strategy?

Yeah I'd be interested to know too. Since 11.2 I've changed my tactics to keep crossing to a minimum and have not tried a crossing game since the new update.

I am struggling to get Carroll to score. After the match when I look at the analysis section, on the crosses screen, it shows all the crosses have been blocked or intercepted. Then again only Maxi has a good crossing stat of all the Liverpool wide players and that is only at 14. So it may be better with better wingers, but I haven't got enough cash to buy a Johnson or Hazard or Young so I couldn't say.

I've had players with high crossing stats, but 9 out of 10 crosses in the previous patch would be poor.

Really? Because I've had some great success with crossing in my game. Low whipped crosses are the most effective of course, but high ones have got me some success as well.

If I get the time I'll post a tactic up and see whether it's just me or whatever.

With the latest patch? Or in the previous patch as well?

Both. Tactic worked fine in both of them.

Oh ok. I remember someone starting a thread about having trouble crossing on the previous patch. There were a lot of people having the same problem. Everyone seemed to think crossing hadn't been programmed well enough.

Tell your players were to aim there crosses?
Either centre or target man (carroll)
I prefer them drilled to floated aswell tbh

Crossing is my game is destroying all defensives (Patch 11.3)
Myles Weston and Sam Saunders down the wingers on Ghost Tactic V4
****!!!! Average 3/4 a game and lots of assists for them!

Yeah tried that. If I had a big striker with good heading ability I would have it set to aim for target man, usually on drill cross or default. I had Bale and Lennon on each wing set to hug touchline and cross from deep, support. Bales crosses were usually better, but most of the time they were whipped into the danger area so quick that no one had a chance of getting on the end of it.

I´ve been struggling quite a bit with this as well, been trying to get the best combination of:
float/drill crosses
aim target man/center/far post

So far nothing has really struck me as "the best" combination.

I've never thought crossing from deep works well!
I think beating the full back and cross from the byline is the best way!!!
Saunders + Weston both good at this!

I usually have Lennon set to cross from byline, but still no good. Recently I've set Lennon and Bale to move into channels and crossing on low, and they have both been getting a fair amount of assists. Lennon playing very much like he does IRL. But I will give it another go at crossing.

Instead of hug touchling try;

Cut inside or move into channels
But don't use cross from deep, have your wing backs do that

Okay, I started a game just to try this, got 2 wingers with 16 and 17 crossing respectively, played some friendlies to get the guys to gel, and then picked the shittiest team I could find and arranged a friendly. They had 23 combined crosses, of which only 2 were completed.

Doesn't 'cut inside' make them run towards the middle of the pitch and put them on their wrong foot?

most of the best wingers on the game play on there weaker foot side anyways, for example hazard plays left but is right footed.

so shudnt really affect there crossing tbh

One other thing, "drilling" and "floating" crosses doesn't change how the cross is hit. It's basically another way of describing "near/far" post. It's just because you'd float a cross to the far post, and drill on to the near.

Tried once more, had Adam Johnson as a winger, his only successful crosses were corners.
