Hi I did a story yesterday on my local side from the Northern First division however it came to a premature end because there is so many sides in England when you download all the English leagues and it takes about 30/40 minutes to go through the FA cup and FA vase games. Sooo... I have decided to give myself another challenge and manage Cuba. I don't normally manage national teams so this will be a bit of a tough task for me. Before anyone asks I am upgrading all the domestic sides' youth facilities to average so I get a few decent regens coming through :P

The cuban nattional team were the first Carribean team to make the World Cup in 1938. They advanced to the quarter finals after defeating Romania in a replay. In the quarter's they were beaten by Sweden 8-0. They have never been to the World Cup since.

Their current FIFA ranking is 119. My quest-to get them to a world cup :D I'll post results after matches.

Cool mate, sounds challenging, good luck

Friendly:
Cuba 3-0 St Martin
Rodriguez2, Munoz

Dominated the game, especially in the first half. Deserved the win but was only weak opposition. Raudel Rodriguez is a really good player.

Friendly:
St Martin 0-2 Cuba
Ramirez, Munoz

Again dominated the game away from home and won. Didn't score til late on and then my 80th minute sub, Munoz scored a quality 20 yarder. Btw the first 2 friendlies were already set-up.

Julio Aldama joins Belgians!
Cuba's number 2 goalkeeper Julio Aldama has joined Cercle Brugge on a free transfer.
Cuba managers comments: Julio is a decent keeper and joining a big side will only help him. He can improve at Brugge and I am happy one of our players has joined a European side.
All of Cubas players currently play in their homeland although a couple are free agents.

You played them again :O

Yes, was gonna cancel friendly but couldn't really see the point lol, get my first couple of wins on the board :D

Julio Aldama-the new European star :D

Is the team too old?

Manager-Ben Worthington says he is a happy with his team after his first couple of games. Although in a recent interview the manager stated he felt his side was a bit on the old side. 8 of the 11 Cuban starters are 30 or over and the manager says he wants to see some younger players coming through.

The team and tactics :)

Friendly:
Cuba 4-0 Dominica
Torres, Bobadilla2, Rodriguez

Dominica are supposed to be better than St Martin although they never showed it. For us it's another win against another weak side but another clean sheet also :)

Yenier Marquez is quality!

Cuba manager Ben Worthington has said that Cuba holding midfielder Yenier Marquez is a quality player. In a recent interview he said, 'I feel Yenier Marquez is a big player for the team. He holds the midfield well and gives the defence good protection. He's a nice guy too and is great to be around. The lads love him and I am very happy to have him in the team.'

Friendly:
Anguilla 0-2 Cuba
Morales2

Good win against Anguilla, couple of bad injuries but it's the end of 2009 and I haven't got a game until March 2010. First year was just instilling a bit of confidence into the players really. More difficult friendlies next year. Need some youngsters coming through. Bobadilla is 39, Driggs 35 and a few more of my players are well into their 30's. Luckily Raudel Rodriguez is only 19 and is already a decent player. My next game is at home against El Salvador. Will be a close game, should win though :P

Can anyone tell me what date regens come into the game? Hope I get a few decent young players.
