Currency in my game has turned to Dollars?

I just thought I was selling a player for 45mill? but when the sale went through it showed $ and the deal went through as $45m (?29m) - I checked my settings and currency is set to British Pound ? but all my displays are in $, this is a save from when the game launched, could the patch of corrupted something?

the pound sign posts and works on other websites

Just select any other currency, reaload, then later change to pounds and reload...that should fix it, I had the same problem and that works for me.
