Pretty sure you'll hang on, seems to big a lead to throw away. Hopefully you can make a real impression in the Champions League next season :)

To be honest mate I prefer it when you update on FM Base, it looks much better. Not taking anything away from the website which is fantabulous :)

Thanks for the feedback, what do you think is missing now? I'd like to explore how to get the best of both worlds.

I think maybe putting transfer news on Base maybe, but then doing all the league and results on the website? Might work?

Maybe put the scores on base but the league tables and the rest on the website.

I miss the actual report of the match, of who played well, who scored first etc. I know it takes longer to update but I thought it was a nice touch. So you could put the league table, transfers, player profile etc on the website, but give us the match reports on here. That way we'd see the results and check out the league table after.

Thanks again for the feedback, I'm not going to give up on the website but the comments have been helpful. I think what's missing is the story aspect, perhaps the updates should be more storylike with the detailled match reports, news, votes and video on the site?
Since I started the story I've tried to develop new and different ways of updating - the minute by minute reports, the last day of the season unfolding, downloadable matches, etc just to stop the story getting stale but it is all very time consuming. It may be that this has just run it's course now and it's time to step aside.

I'm sure plenty of peaople will still follow however you do it.

It's back!

The wheels would really have to come off for Rubin Kazan and their English manager Dan Lake not to lift the 2014 Russian Premier Division title, but if they did slip up in their next three games their closest rivals, Spartak Moscow, lay in wait with the two sides then due to meet at Central. The gap between first and second is currently seven points.

Won 4-0 v Spartak Nalchik (Away)
± Traore (17,39); Sergey Chepchugov (36og); Arshavin (64)
 Galimov, Grigalava, Sheshukov, Shubin, Acosta
« Traore (8.6)

It took just 17 minutes for Rubin’s pressure to tell on a creaking Nalchik defence, Ivorian striker Lacina Traore was on the end of Arshavins pin-point cross to volley home from close range. It was 2-0 on 36 minutes when confusion in the Nalchik box resulted in Sergey Chepchugov putting the ball beyond his own keeper. Traore got another with a powerful strike from the edge of the area before halftime and Arshavin completed the rout on 64 minutes. Nikola Drincic took a quick freekick and knocked the ball sideways to Arshavin who unleashed a ferocious shot from fully 35 yards.

Won 2-1 v Austria Wien (Home, UEFA Europa League Group Stage)
± Putsilo (22); Drincic (34)
 Galimov, Grigalava
« Drincic (7.8)

With ambitions of progressing to the knockout stage of the competition, Rubin needed to bring their league form into this tricky game against Austria Wien. In the 22nd minute Putsilo pounced on a loose ball in the Wien area and stroked it home, the home side’s lead was then doubled when Vladimir Shubin found Drincic lurking outside the 18 yard box and his rising strike found the top corner of the net. Wien came out in the second half with more intent and pulled a goal back on 71 minutes, Gokhan Karagoz lined up a freekick and with the Rubin defence expecting a shot he instead played a clever ball to the onrushing David Boysen. Danish international Boysen slammed the ball past Yury Zhevnov in the Rubin goal from 20 yards out.

Won 3-1 v Amkar (Home)
± Bukharov (8); Parshivlyuk (11), Traore (72)
 Drincic, Shubin
h Bukharov (45+4)
« Parshivlyuk (7.9)

The joy of an emphatic win and another three points for Rubin was offset by the injury to top striker Alexandr Bukharov at Central today. The game was only 8 minutes old when top scorer Bukharov powered a header past the Amkar keeper. Three minutes later fullback Sergey Palshivlyuk made it 2-0 to Rubin with a close range volley. When Jean Carlos broke free of his marker in the minute and scored with a well placed shot the Rubin fan’s became nervous but they needn’t have worried. The Rubin players weren’t about to let this opportunity slip and they stepped up the pressure on the Amkar defence, it paid off when Andrey Arshavin picked out Lacina Traore unmarked in the area and he powered the ball past the diving Alexey Solosin. At the final whistle the Rubin fans knew that a single point from their next game against Dinamo Moscow would seal the title!

Drew 3-3 v Dinamo Moscow (Home)

This was going to be one of the biggest game in Rubin Kazan's history as a single point would see them win their second league trophy, following the success of 2008.
They certainly weren't playing for a point though as they attacked from the kick off. Eduardo Oviedo hadn't scored a league goal since March but that was forgotten when he gave his side the lead on 8 minutes, latching onto a clever ball by Alan Kasaev. But the score was level again just 6 minutes later when Brazilian striker Cleo controlled a rebound and poked it past a stranded Vladimir Perfiljev in the Rubin goal. Rubin led again after 19 minutes, Andrey Arshavin crossed from a free-kick and Alan Kasaev rose to head the ball against the bar and in. Just before half-time Argentine frontman Mario Acosta scored his first goal in 11 hours of football for Rubin nodding an Arshavin free-kick into an inviting net. Second half goals from Sergey Terekhov and that man Cleo made it 3-3 but did nothing to quell the Rubin fans' singing. As the final whistle went the away fans ran onto the pitch and it wasn't long before the champagne was flowing in the Rubin changing room!

More news and an update to the website coming soon! ;)
