Big fan of deep lying playmakers and im using Gerrard in that roll atm, but id prefer to play him in a more advanced roll and sign myself someone who plays like Alonso used to. At the moment im torn between:
Banega
Huddlestone
Sahin
Ive never managed any of them so im not sure how they play and dont really want to throw £20m+ down the drain so if anyone could tell me a bit about any of them or recommend a different player would be much appreciated, thanks.

From Raikan's lists:

Andrea Poli - Sampdoria
Necip Uysal - Besiktas
Tom Huddlestone - Tottenham
Alturo Vidal - Leverkeusen
Arouca - Santos
Lorenzo Criestig - Inter
Ever Banega - Valencia
Jucilei - Corinthians
Guido Pizzaro - Lanus
Keisuke Honda - CSKA
Daneil Kofi Agyei - Fiorentina
Casemiro - Sao Paulo
Markus Henriksen - Rosenborg
Keisuke Honda - CSKA
Steven Defour - Standard

I had Sahin at Dortmund and he is a beast. Thoroughly recommended, although I think he will be quite expensive. If you are looking for a cheaper option try Defour. I have managed Standard as well and he is great. Look at those mental attributes :O

All good options there, but like you say, might be a bit expensive.

A great young option is Andrea Poli from Sampdoria. Should be good enough to start at a relatively young age, and develops into a world class Pirlo-type deep lying playmaker with the right coaching and guidance.
