Default datbase problem

When you say you cant even open FM, where does it "stop" so the speak because if it does not even load up, you should not e able to see that there is something wrong with the databas. ?
 
First I open FM.

FM is still open.

When I press the OK button:
Startscreen FM is showing up.

But when I want to start a new game:

When you re-installed the game through Steam, was you online connection good, did you get any errors duinrg it ? Try doing a clean re-install again and see what happends

Then I have no idea. I would contact Steam/SI to see if they can help you since there seems to be some flaws with your installation.
When did this occur ? Was it from one day to another ? Had you done anything with the game inbetween ? Are you still able to play your old saves ?
