Defending errors

My defenders jocky the opponent and then goes in for the tackle but ends up running past them , is anyone else experiencing this?

Yep, just played a match where Mertesacker tried to pass the ball to Koscielny, but instead of taken the ball, Koscielny ran away, and the opponent scored the winning goal! Apparently defenders are retards in this game
