Defending like the Ai

Has anyone managed to create a tactic and/or set of instructions that makes your team defend even remotely close to the AI ?
My strikers always seem to close down the defenders but they dont drop deeper when the opposition has the ball in midfield.
Also the midfielders seem to do a half assed attempt at dropping deeper to protect the back 4, even with defensive roles.
It's frustrating to concede the same type of goals over and over again.

Any tips?

I find that it depends on what player/team instructions you have on...
I find less is more...
I only use 3/5 team instructions and NO player instructions...

Also, don't be too sure closing down more is what you want to get them to do it. It may send them to close too soon and go to the centrebacks and get stuck on them and being why they don't go back. Even though it may sound counterintuitive, do give a try to lower their closing down. Also keep Cleon81's advice in that linked site: test things one at a time, rather than change too many things at once that you can't tell which worked in the direction you intended and which didn't.

My strikers tend to be willing to drop and mark the midfield, specially if I use a pair, and I do nothing specific to get them to do that.
