Is their a way to make players more determined in game?

Tutoring by a player with Higher Determination. It also affects hidden personality stats, notably Professionalism and Ambition. Those two have a bigger impact on player development.

Why the need for determination? Are you conceding first/falling behind in games often?

Yes I quite often concede within the first 10 minutes and cant get back in the game.
