I have started a career with Costa Rica and got through to the world cup finals. I beat Spain 2-1!! Then proceeded to lose 4-1 to Slovakia and 2-1 to Ghana so I went out bottom of the group despite beating Spain!

With there being no league available in Costa Rica how can I try and develop the younger players? It seems I have very little say on how to make the countries footballing future better.

I think in future games they should make it possible to develop a nations reputation over a period of time and therefore younger players coming through should be more talented than those available to me now.

you could of course download the costa rican league so you could manage there and increase the facilities at the top clubs in order for them to produce better players. its a similar kind of thing people do with andorra as they can get decent youth eventually as they are a european country. if you dont want to do this you could also take over a top team in europe and then buy costa rican youngsters so they can improve at that clubs facilities. i find the first method more effective as you can manage the clubs directly but this method does mean you need to download additions to the game for it to work

I tried doing this but when I downloaded the leagues (cant remember what download I used) it messed up the international side of things. No matches could be played. Friendlies would just get ignored and would go past the date with no match being played. World cup qualifiers would never happen and it would show next match at 2011 date.

I have downloaded the costa rican league now so I will be starting it again. I presume with the league running and me just managing the national side will develop the players slightly more than no league running then? Ideally I would like the teams to upgrade their youth/training facilities but thats impossible for me to do.

if you are only managing the national team then the league will not improve much and it will only ever produce average players with maybe one or 2 decent players who could be in europe. much like how it is now. i would recommend managing in the league itself and then improving the facilities at a club and then move to another club in the league to improve their facilities. eventually you will be in a situation where there are 3 or 4 teams in the league who are able to produce top talent every year and this will improve the national team.
