Eintracht Frankfurt Unveil Tuchel

View attachment 360210
The former Mainz manager has signed a two-year deal

In what has come as a surprise to many Bundesliga fans, Eintracht Frankfurt have appointed former Mainz manager Thomas Tuchel as Head Coach on a two-year contract. Tuchel is one of three appointments at the club, as former Schalke and Wolfsburg employee Bernd Hollerbach joins as Assistant Manager whilst Leo Beenhakker, formerly of Real Madrid, Holland, Ajax and Feyenoord joins as Director of Football to work alongside Tuchel regarding movements made in the transfer market.

"To announce this triple signing is an exciting moment for the club," said Chairman Heribert Bruchhagen. "Tuchel had an outstanding record with Mainz and I believe he can take us to the next level. Before Thomas signed the contract, we had some exciting talks about where we both want to take the club and we agreed upon our ambitions for at least the next two years. He is a young, hungry coach who craves success. I am 100% he will be a success here at the Commerzbank-Arena."

To aid Tuchel's search for success at Frankfurt, the experienced Leo Beenhakker will give a helping hand with transfers. The pair have, according to Bruchhagen, had positive conversations regarding the dynamics of their relationship.

Eintracht Frankfurt's pre-season schedule sees them face six sides, including Rubin Kazan and English side Wigan Athletic. Capital club Hertha Berlin visit the Commerzbank-Arena in the first game of the 2013-2014 Bundesliga season.

"I'm very glad to be here," said Tuchel at his unveiling, "Frankfurt is a fantastic club with fantastic supporters. I've been in negotiations with the Chairman and board here for over a week now, and in that time I've had a chance to look around the facilities and consider my options. We're able to pack 51,500 supporters into this magnificent stadium, whilst the training and youth facilities are of a great standard. This football club has all the credentials to become a European force within the next few seasons and I hope to accomplish that," announced Tuchel, before continuing, "if I leave Frankfurt having not taken them into Europe, I'll regard my tenure as a failure. It's as simple as that."

Fantastic OP, really detailed way of writing mate. Are you planning on staying with Frankfurt only? Or can Tuchel more clubs? Look forward to seeing next update. :)

Thanks for the comment!

Right now I'm focusing on Frankfurt, but I can't rule anything out for the future!

Following Thomas Tuchel's appointment last month, Eintracht Frankfurt coasted through pre-season against several mediocre teams with five wins and one loss.

In Tuchel's first game in charge, Frankfurt brushed aside a poor Rubin Kazan team despite the inclusion of star players Roman Eremenko and Yann M'Vila. Highly-rated youngster Marc Stendera appeared from the bench at half-time and added to Alexander Meier's earlier goal from the penalty spot. When Dynamo Kyiv visited the Commerzbank-Arena, Tuchel made seven changes to the starting XI in an uninspiring 2-0 loss.
German minnows Jena were expected to roll over in the face of Frankfurt, although proved to be sterner opposition. A late Meier strike, his second of pre-season, secured the win for Tuchel in a disappointing display.

SVW Mannheim were made easy work of by two early goals, and Tuchel provided the tactical nous to see out the game whilst also giving all first-team players vital minutes on the pitch. A trip to Serie B side Juve Stabia was next for Die Adler and an emphatic performance secured a 5-0 scoreline in the favour of Tuchel's team. Youngster Stendera again appeared from the bench to score a goal, whilst new loan signing Angelo Henriquez impressed in his first game with a goal. Frankfurt's best performance of pre-season came in the final game. A dominant display at Wigan Athletic was secured with two late goals from strikers Jan Rosenthal and Vaclav Kadlec, whom both impressed throughout pre-season.

Tuchel Signs Four

View attachment 359053Angelo Henriquez in action for Chile

The relationship between Eintracht Frankfurt manager Thomas Tuchel and Director of Football Leo Beenhakker has proven to be a success in it's early days. Whilst the pair managed to secure their four primary targets, several first-team players were sold. Additionally, those regarded as unnecessary were released in order to reduce the wage budget.

Argentinian defender Federico Fernandez was the first arrival at the Commerzbank-Arena from Italian Serie A side Napoli. The 24-year-old, whom has 16 caps for the Argentinian national team, has joined Frankfurt for
€2 million. Fernandez started his career at Estudiantes in Argentina before a two year spell at Napoli. Last season was spent on-loan at Spanish side Getafe. 17-year-old Sebastian Driussi was next to join Frankfurt from River Plate of Argentina after his contract ran it's course. Driussi, who made no appearances for the River Plate first-team, has been likened to Chelsea attacker Oscar in his play style.

High on the list of priorities to new manager Thomas Tuchel was an energetic and youthful striker. Manchester United's Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez proved to be the best candidate available for the club as he joined on a season-long loan deal. Frankfurt agreed a deal which sees them pay nothing to the 19-year-old's club whilst also contributing very little towards his wages. Spanish midfielder Ruben Perez proved to be the final arrival as he joined from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal. Despite being on the books of Atletico for almost 10 years, Perez has never made a first-team appearance despite impressive loan spells at Deportivo, Getafe and Real Betis.

26-year-old German midfielder Stefan Aigner was the first to suffer from the arrivals as he was placed on the transfer list. Hoffenheim struck a quick deal worth
€6 million to beat off competition from Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen and Augsburg. Japanese midfielder Takashi Inui was then regarded as un-needed by Tuchel and Beenhakker as he joined Hertha Berlin for €4 million. Serbian Aleksandar Ignjovski was entering the final year of his contract which led to Tuchel letting the midfielder go for as little as €2 million to English side Reading. Highly-rated defender Marc-Oliver Kempf then joined Dresden on a season-long loan before eight other players had their contracts terminated.

Thomas Tuchel's first competitive month in charge of Eintracht Frankfurt gave Die Adler fans hope for a successful season with two emphatic wins and a battling draw. Despite the loss at the end of the month, Frankfurt played some attractive football and sit in an impressive 2nd on the Bundesliga table.

Minnows FC Nottingen hosted Frankfurt in Tuchel's first competitive game and were easily swept aside. Four first-half goals all but secured progression for Die Adler before wing-back Celozzi added another in the second period. Capital side Hertha Berlin visited the Commerzbank-Arena in the first Bundesliga game of the season and never appeared as though they could compete. Three late goals secured all three points for Frankfurt although the win was never in danger. A trip to the AWD-Arena lay in wait for Tuchel and his team as they played out a 1-1 draw with Hannover. Despite enjoying another dominant display, the Frankfurt fans travelled home disappointed having picked up just a point.

Schalke visited the Commerzbank-Arena in expectant mood following a draw at Leverkusen and a 2-1 home win over HSV. However, new arrival Angelo Henriquez put The Royal Blues to the sword with a second-half brace which saw Die Adler move above their opposition in the Bundesliga table. Following an exciting start to the season, Frankfurt were left disappointed when they visited BayArena and were easily beaten 3-1 by Leverkusen. A 92nd minute goal by defender Federico Fernandez proved to be a consolation in a frustrating performance for Tuchel.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were the only team to take points from Eintracht Frankfurt in September as the attacking trio of Vaclav Kadlec, Angelo Henriquez and Jan Rosenthal continued to tear teams apart.

Hamburg proved to be less of a threat than first feared in the opening game of the month as they failed to rise to the occasion. Three first-half goals effectively put the game beyond the reach of Die Rothosen, despite a late Jacques Zoua consolation goal. Tuchel's team travelled to the Allianz Arena in high spirits and, despite their best efforts, surrendered three points to a superb Bayern Munich team. Rosenthal added a consolation in the 86th minute following three goals earlier in the second-half from the excellent trio of Arjen Robben, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Robert Lewandowski.

Four days later, Frankfurt were heavy favourites to progress as they visited Sandhausen in the 2nd Round of the DFB-Pokal. Jan Rosenthal got the visitors off to a great start as he scored the first goal of the evening within the 1st minute. Two more from him later in the game, as well as goals from fellow striker Kadlec and Japanese midfielder Hasebe meant a Nicky Adler goal for Sandhausen was little consolation. In the final game of the month, Die Adler travelled to the MAGE SOLAR Stadion where Freiburg played host. Frankfurt goals by strike partners Henriquez and Kadlec sandwiched a Sebastian Freis strike for Freiburg as Die Adler took all three points.

In a relatively poor month for Eintracht Frankfurt, Die Adler only managed to pick up 4 points from a relative 9. On his first return to the Coface-Arena, Tuchel left disappointed after being on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline.

Augsburg, who are, like Frankfurt, playing above expectations, arrived at the Commerzbank-Arena in the first game of the month. The home side enjoyed relative dominance and, despite this, fell behind late in the game to an 85th minute Alexander Esswein goal. Frankfurt manager Thomas Tuchel quickly responded with a double substitution and it was one of the fresh players to net an equaliser. Left wing-back Bastian Oczipka pounced on a defensive mistake to hammer home and draw the game level.

Following the dramatics of the game against Augsburg, it was a relatively one-sided game when Frankfurt travelled to face Tuchel's old club, Mainz. All three goals were scored in the first-half, with Frankfurt's coming first, before Sebastian Polter scored twice to give his side all three points. In the final game of a short month, league struggler's Werder Bremen visited the Commerzbank-Arena and gave an unexpectedly battling display in an equal contest. Czech striker Vaclav Kadlec netted a winner in the second-half to end a poor month on a high note.
