Do teams target specific players when tackling?

I have been wondering this for a while now, since it seems like every other match since i signed my star striker Giuseppe Rossi for Derby he has to be subbed off early because he is slightly injured by a tackle from an opponent defender.

does this happen to anyone else?
it is really annoying since he and Daniel Sturridge are my star players and i really don't have a backup striker who can play as good as Rossi.

I think they do, a bit like when you play Liverpool or Man United, you set tackling hard on Rooney or Torres, I believe the opposing teams do it to, adds realism to the game.

no, he's not injury prone, he can bounce back and plau soon after, just he gets low condition for that match and can't play for the rest of it.

yeah, i think that i may have to look at that next time i look for a new striker, Rossi's natural fitness is the lowest out of my whole team.

Rossi is still a great striker though.
