I was wondering how many of you prefer to start with a smaller team and build your way up or choose Man Utd, Chelsea and so on and get an "easy" way to the top?

Personally I allways start with a relatively small team and build my way up. I have tried starting with both Man Utd and Chelsea, but quit my save after about 8-9 games. I found it was just to easy.

I voted big it may seem biased but i always start with Rangers

It's the same for me. I always win the league with spurs in first season, then i find the game is no fun.

Now I am managing a club in Spain 3rd Division Group 8. I aim to get into midtable Liga Adelante by 2013/14.

My best game I started with Crystal Palace you get nothing to work with a young squad but sign likes of Van der laet from man utd zavon hines for west ham and dalle valle on loan and play neil danns as your advances playmaker and allasane n'diaye as a ball winning mid and well it worked for me got them up to 3 within 15 games even with the point deduction and got offered wolfsburg job and won league in second season in charge there

Well, moderately big.I am currently considering to start a save with Villarreal soon.

Big I guess, though I don't choose the top top teams. I like saves like Porto or Lyon - dominate their country, but struggle in europe. Besides, being top teams isn't easy or boring in a sense, if you set yourself different challenges. It's not easy to win every cup on offer every season, go unbeaten for 1 season or more, or concede less than 10 goals a season, etc etc. Personally I like to make my club the richest in the world as well as win things, which means no ridiculous spending sprees or player wages.

big teams are okay but its much more fun to start as a small team

my current game for instance has brought more satisfaction than any game could starting at the top:

it felt so good to finally get to this point after years of building up :) so for sure small

I prefer larger teams, in the top division of their countries.

TINY!! based on what others are calling small!!

The 'Biggest' team I have started with in months is my current save - Crawley Town in BSP

Voted both, occasionaly will start with a low division side, sometimes, I just be Arsenal. Barcelona ect.

Smaller teams take WAY too long, as seen on the above screenshot, I wouldn't have the patience to play for 7 years, no way, I'd get too bored.

I rather take on medium teams, such as Blackburn. This way, I can play for 3-5 years and most likely challenge/win the league, which is satisfying and is a good achievement, aswell as the fun you have along the way such as good signings and great games. :)

I'm currently playing with Alessandria, from Italian C1A, and not long ago I played with Parma, and Partizan (top team from my home country). But in the past I also played with Real, Chelsea, Inter, and few other very top clubs. So in my case, it depends on mood...small, big, medium...

Both, the lowest team i've been with is Blyth, i usually go with mid-table championship teams, but i have had saves with man utd. Im with rangers at the minute, i see it as a good challenge because there is no money.

I voted both because i have my current save with Liverpool in my 6th season. Here is a list of a few from both categories that i can remember.

  • Oxford
  • Torquay
  • Chelsea
  • Manchester United
  • Liverpool
  • Leeds
  • Wolfsburg
  • Bayern Munich
  • And a few more :)

You do get money with Rangers mate in a season or 2

I always start as Stoke but after 2-3 seasons I stop playing it. I can't bear to get rid of the players which I love in real life. (Even I know that's weird.) I've just done a Kidderminster Harriers save, got them from BSP to Champions League winners in 9 seasons which was more satisfying then any other save i've done.

Smallish, but in a top league normally, or a medium sized team in a lower league, this is in correlation to the stature of the league compared to the rep of the club.

I then like to work my way up to either making that said team into a strong contender for the title, year after year, or get offered a job at a top club after a few seasons.

Both, the first team i ever managed was Liverpool but now im playing as smaller teams from foreign country's aiming to get them to the top of Europe.

Both Really, its always good to have a bit of fun and win everything, but then a challenge is always welcome :P
