Does anyone understand co-ownership?

I have a player who is under contract with me for 2 years.

Another club have offered to co-own him for a year. During this year it appears that he will continue to play for me.

What is that club getting out of this?
What will happen at the end of the year?

at the end of the season you have to bid again 50 % ownership of the player
