Hi, I have a question about the PPM "Does not dive into tackles".

Does it mean that the player will not slide tackle (but will still make standing tackles, poking the ball from the opposition, etc.), or does it mean he will just keep backing off and not tackle at all)?

A standing tackle could hardly be described as "diving" into one.

If it simply means "does not commit slide tackles" then wouldn't this PPM be very useful for an anchorman, in that he wouldn't leave his defenders in the lurch with a mistimed slide tackle?

Also, does the tackling attribute refer to sliding tackles only, or standing tackles as well? If it refers to standing tackles too, then "Does not dive into tackles" seems like a really great PPM for an anchorman.

Does not dive into tackles means he tend to wait until he thinks he has a really good chance of winning the tackle before going in. He basically isn't gambling on tackles (in his opinion) of course this lessens slide tackles as they are often somewhat of a gamble.

Hmm, so this PPM is not a good one to have on a player with a high tackling attribute? What roles would benefit from this PPM?

It depends, in my view is good for roles where you dont want the tackler get dribbled because he went to ground, and you want a role where the player is trying to hold up the runner while others get back. Good for DMs in more posession based/attacking tactics.

Note it doesnt define how hard a tackle is (this also goes for easy/hard tackling slider, that is actually frequency, and it needs to be renamed as such). How hard the actual tackle is, is based on the strength of the player

So a strong aggressive balanced defender with this PPM would look to simply just muscle players off the ball.

At the very best level, think Maldini. This is the PPM he would have had.
