*Title a little misleading, apologies*

Hi guys

Im currently Borussia Dortmund, expected to win the league and I started really well but I have now fallen to 5th. I know the ME can get used to my tactic but I haven't experienced it this soon into a save? (first season)

1 - Tactical Setup

- Player Instructions (PIs)

4 - Your vision/tactical plan

Possesion-based
Pressing a lot

Other than that I just want it to work and get me results!

More detail may be needed here - sorry writing this in a rush!

5 - What issues are you having, exactly?

Conceding goals from crosses down both flanks, defenders seem lackluster when marking opponents. Lack of CCC and shots on target. Could be down to lack of quality but I doubt it?

6 - PKM/Save game

Let me know if you need one.

I can go in more detail if needed but will not be until later - also I wrote a really good post but this site decided to delete it!

Thanks guys.

Put ur fullbacks on automatic I Stef of support and I bet u concede less and score more

So you want him to effectively change his wingbacks from Support to Support? Yeah, that'll do. ;)

Change both W/A into W/S. Consider manually marking wide players. Set closing down via PI instead of TI, else you'll lose your shape in defense; also, not too many players closing down at once. Probably switch one of your AP to a DLP/S for a more disciplined defensive back.

Regarding your offensive struggles: Control ain't a possession mentality, drop down to Standard, or at least fill up every PI you can find with Shorter Passing. Does Aubameyang perform as a DLF/S for you? You'll rob him of his acceleration advantage when played too deep. He's better off sitting in between both central defenders, trying to outrun his marker. Feed him with through balls, maybe low crosses plus Pass Into Space, and you'll be happy. AF is his ideal role, you might even play him as a Poacher.

Read it properly bud am saying change to automatic, does that mean support??? Jus gets them back to the basics instead of bombing on all the time ther for concede less goals. Uve jus about told him to change everything he's done diddy

Auto duties on Control mentality = Support duties. He was saying that the change means nothing because he'll just be changing a Support duty to a Support duty.

Thanks guys for your messages. Especially as I am brand new to FM Base (certainly not new to FM).

You could try to have a slightly higher defensive line to keep your team closer together and limit the spaces in between your lines. You will then have the threat of the ball in behind your defence but it's worth the risk, certainly against weaker opposition.

Also try whipped crosses instead of low crosses.

Maybe try a CM or BWM & a AP in the middle rather than 2 AP

You'd be aswell changing the wingbacks to fullbacks in the control mentality. Might help limit the chances on your wings.

Hm ok mate. It's funny you should say that. I started off at the beginning of the season with an AP and a BWM. I'm not sure why but I changed it because I saw it on a tactic I downloaded, so then I started playing with 2 APs. It worked really well at first but now this has happened... Can't help but feel this year is all about momentum, even more so than last year!

Seeing what others are seeing, too. Of your front 5, only one of them is going to help out much defensively, and even that isn't going to be that much. And your two wide defenders are not always going to be helping that much defensively. As mentioned above, wingers to Support - at least one of them. I might also suggest going a bit less attacking on the wingbacks - go to Wingback Attack, or even Wingback Support when you need them to be a bit more defensive-minded. The two CMs definitely need a change. Not a huge fan of the BWM myself as I find him out of position too often. Maybe a B2B with more a PI for more closing down and CM-A or CM-S.
