Today Ajax Football Club confirmed they will be upgrading their training facilites after newly appointed manager Charlie House's request was granted. The new facility upgrades are believed to have cost in the region of £2.5 million. The work will be completed by the 3rd October 2013. Charlie House released a statement saying "he hopes the new upgrades will help both him and his players game and it will also make more players want to come to the club". He went on to say that "he hopes the new facilities will help the club in the future even after he is gone".
The new upgrades is the first thing the new manager has brought to the club but later on in the press conference he was asked if he was looking to sign any players?. He replied "Yes and said the club are currently in talks to bring Vittesse wonderkid Marco Van Ginkel to the club". He didn't leave any clues towards the cost of the transfer but this news will surely bring some smiles to Ajax fans.
England today moved up from 6th place in the world rankings to 4th place which is an increase in two places. It is a massive achievement for the country to return to the top five international teams in the world. Charlie House released a statement saying "It is a massive achievement to be in the top five international teams in the world and we can use this as a stepping stone to get to the top ranking in the world".
Kyle Walker was today called up to the England squad by manager Charlie House. He is now the third right back in the squad along side Glenn Johnson & Micah Richards. Glenn Johnson is believed to be the new manager's first choice and with Micah Richards currently injured it seems like a sensible move by the manager. Kyle Walker last season impressed Tottenham Hotspur fans with dazzling performances which have clearly caught the eye of Charlie House.
Ajax Football Club today beat PSV to win the Dutch Supercup (Johan Cruijff Shield). The game was a managerial debut for the new boss Charlie House and he got off to a winning start and this can be yet another trophy to add to Ajax giant trophy case. Ajax came out 1-0 winners through a Ryan Babel goal and an overall top performance by the 25 year old. Charlie House told the press "that he was delighted that the team won the match and he said it was a sign of things to come for the clubs fans. This is Charlie House's first trophy in management and many pundits expect many more to follow.
Marco Van Ginkel today picked up a twisted ankle which will put him out for 4 to 5 weeks which means the new signing will miss the start of the season. The injury was picked up in his debut performance for the club but news of the injury has left fans scared he will struggle to get back to his best in the upcoming season. Marco Van Ginkel became the club's most expensive player with a transfer fee of £11.5 million when he joined this season. For that money you get a 20 year old midfielder who can play in multiple attacking positions and has great potential.
Today was the day of the Uefa Champions League group stage draw and it was not a happy time for Ajax fans as their team was drawn in a incredibly hard group. Ajax's group contains Barclays Premier League Champions Manchester United , Serie A Champions AC Milan and Croatian side Dinamo. Ajax will have to take points from both Manchester United and Milan if they want to qualify for the knockout stages. The club hired new manager Charlie House to help build on there Dutch dominance and try and make them into a top european team.
