Draft Protected?

I came across this pretty good regen who plays for Northern Virginia and has an amateur contract. Problem is when I go to approach to sign it says he is draft protected and i can't sign him.

Is there any way around this??

I have the same problem, there are some really good regens in the USA but until they get drafted you can't sign them. However it's not a huge problem since they mostly stay pretty cheap when they're drafted.

How long till he gets drafted. He's 19 btw

I don't think it's at a certain age, but the top regen from the MLS in my save was drafted at the age of 20/21.

In January, before the new season.

The MLS draft is of college players, so most are drafted when they are done 4 years meaning they will be around 21/22 when they are drafted.

Luckily the MLS is developing youth academies to replace this flawed system that stunts players progression.

He got drafted to Houston, he's 20. First round pick, #2 overall. Not bad
