Everybody who left the club left as they no longer had a part to play and were just taking up wages and becoming unhappy as they weren't getting game time so was happy to offload them.
Transfer In
We only bring in one player this month as I couldn't get any of my other targets in but I feel Carlos Mane could add a lot down the right and for only £225,000 from Sporting it could end up being a steal.
Motherwell v Dundee United
A bit of a disappointing match here as we rely on Morilla coming off the bench to grab us an equaliser.
Scottish Cup 4th Round
Queen Of the South v Dundee United
A comfortable win to see us through to the next round of the cup again but it was good to see both our strikers hit the back of the net again.
Dundee v Dundee United
What a derby as we make it look at lot easier than it was with us getting 3 goals in the final 20 minutes as we leave it late again before turning the screw.
Livingston v Dundee United
Livingston certainly made us work for the 3 points here but we did rotate a few players here with the Celtic game in mind next but Meert and Mane have goal scoring debuts so hopefully they continue.Dundee United v Celtic
What a match as Martin gets on the score sheet again against Celtic. Celtic have really been struggling this season after selling most of their star players and we clearly took full advantage of it here.
We have the youth intake this month and we have one very promising player come through in Darren Ritchie so will be interesting to see if he can fulfil his potential.
Dundee United v St. Johnstone
We are made to fight right until the end for the 3 points but Martin was the difference here as the 17 year old adds another 2 goals to his tally.
St. Mirren v Dundee United
A a bit disappointing to throw away the lead with 5 minutes to go.
Hearts v Dundee United
A great way to bounce back from the draw as we run out commanding winners even with 10 men left on the pitch. Martin gets another 2 goals again.
Dundee United v Dundee
Theo has a debut to remember here as he grabs a well deserved goal right on the brink of half time just 2 minutes after Martin gives us the lead.
A great all round performance and an excellent way to finish the league before the split happens as it keeps us in the European spots and in the hunt for the league.
Scottish Cup Semi Final
Dundee United v Rangers
After falling behind early I thought we would of been going out but we rally round and fight until the bitter end to get to the Scottish Cup final.
Celtic v Dundee United
A disappointing way to start the split as we let Celtic close the gap with 2 late goals to give them the 3 points.
A good game in the final New Firm derby in the league with what was probably a fair result.
Rangers v Dundee United
Well its safe to say we can count ourselves a bit lucky here Porteous rises above everybody else from a corner to head home with 1 minute left on the clock.
Kilmarnock v Dundee United
What a finish to the game as we score two very late goals to get or first win in 4 games in the league. Palmer was the difference though coming on for the second half as he was the man brought down for the penalty as well.
Dundee United v St. Johnstone
A disappointing way to finish the season as we concede a goal with the last kick of the ball to mean our title chances were over regardless of the Rangers score.
Scottish Cup Final
Aberdeen v Dundee United
And we secure the double this season. Its a repeat of the Betfred Cup final. Its the same score and Dadasov is the hero again with getting the winning goals.
League
What a season as we smash our expectations for the second season in a row thanks to our cup runs which resulted in winning both cups and finishing 2nd in the League. Our average attendance has over doubled from last season which shows what we have managed to achieve in such a short time.
The signing of the season is a bit of surprise again as Zelalem only played 14 matches and wasn't that impressive. Kurt should have won it in my opinion as he has been an absolute beast down the left all season. He managed 12 goals and 11 assists over the course of the season,
We have a steady grow across the board which is going to help boost the club and hopefully it will keep growing season on season. The massive jump in prize money was a massive bonus and a huge jump from what we got for winning the Championship
The board have also given us a reasonable budget for next season which if we use with selling some players coming to the end of their contracts we can get a nice healthy budget to improve the squad.
Onto next season now where we will be looking to try and push our way into the European places again
We a good number of friendlies to get warmed up and the Slavia Prague result was unbelievable as I really didn't expect that when we were rotating to see who was best where with our new signings.
We also used the first knockout round of the Europa League Qualification as warm up matches as it was a pretty much given to win with the squad we have accumulated.
Transfers
We have been extremely busy with offloading as much of the dead wood as possible again to try and free up wages and extra transfer budget. Our first piece of business was bring back Pierre-Gabriel from Monaco for the season which turned out to be a useless bit of business thanks to the new work permit rules after Brexit so he can't play in the league.
We bring in three transfers after contracts expiring with Fruchtl, Woodman and Nkunku all signing deals with the club and all 3 are a massive coup for the club and will bring so much to the squad. The other big bit of business for the club was bringing back Ryan Gauld to the club. When he was transfer listed we did all we could to ensure he;d come back and run our midfield for years to come.
Expectations
Finishing in the Europa League spot should be achievable this season as long as we're at our best and can beat the teams around us.
Not how we wanted to start the league campaign but we get very lucky with the own goal.
Europa League Best Placed 3rd Qualifying Round 1st Leg
St Pat Athletic v Dundee United
A great all round performance with goals coming from all areas of the pitch. We should be comfortably through to the next round.
Kilmarnock v Dundee United
We rotate a fair bit here with it coming in between the European matches and its a tough game as Kilmarnock push us all the way but we secure the 3 points.Europa League Best Placed 3rd Qualifying Round 2nd Leg Dundee United v St Pat Athletic
A nice victory after Morilla gets us off to a great start in the first minute and we are then through to the final qualifying round.
Betfred Cup 2nd Round
Dunfermline v Dundee United
We rotate the full starting XI here and I was really disappointed that it took to extra time to find the goal to see us into the Quarter final.Europa League Best Placed 4th Qualifying Round 1st LegDundee United v Feyenoord
Our biggest game since I started the save and we duly deliver here as Feyenoord just don't turn up at all as goals from Mane and Nkunku give us a 2 goal lead to take with us to Holland. The clean sheet here was the most pleasing thing though to stop the away goals.Dundee United v St. Mirren
We rotate here again thanks to all the games this month but our 2nd team perform really well this time with an excellent win to keep our 100% record in the league goingEuropa League Best Placed 4th Qualifying Round 2nd LegFeyenoord v Dundee United
What a game as we fall behind 3 times but manage to pull it back each time with Morilla coming on at half time to prove how good he is to everybody with getting the winning goal and ensuring that we are in the group stages.Dundee United v Rangers
The scoreline truly didn't reflect the scoreline as going into this with a European hangover our players were knackered and we got absolutely battered by Rangers for the full 90 minutes but Woodman kept us in it.
A bit of a boring match but Nkunku's strike from 30 yards out is enough to break the deadlock and seal the 3 points.
Europa League Group J
Hannover v Dundee United
What a way to start the group stage as we get within minutes of taking all 3 points before Hannover grab the equaliser.
Ayr v Dundee United
We take the chance to rotate the squad here to give everybody a well earned rest and even though we struggle against Ayr we still get the 3 points and that's all that matters.
Betfred Cup Quarter Final Dundee United v Rangers
To mix things up we meet Rangers in the Quarter Final this year instead of the Semi. The teams were pretty even and continued to cancel each other out in the pitch but the pivotal moment can when Alnwick palmed the ball into his own net on the 24th minute.Dundee United v St. Jonstone
We rotate her again but it comes back to bite us as the team just wasn't good enough today and we only manage to grab a point.
