A successful Dunstable-based businessman has bought out Boston United of the Unibond Premier League. The troubled outfit had been struggling to survive for a long time and they have seen their club tumble down the football ladder as a consequence. it is rumoured that the businessman is looking to move the club to his home town and rebrand the club 'Dunstable Rangers', possibly sharing the towns Football Stadium with the established Dunstable Town football team. this would prove a controversial move, and protest by the life-long Boston United fans are likely to materialise. Boston United players and staff have already vowed to walk out of the club if the club changes face.

And the new chairman has been fast at work, appointing Youth Coach Joshua Berry as new manager. The owner was quick to underline his decision and stated that he was impressed by the coaches ability tactically and also his man-management skills. Berry released this statement to the press '' whether it is under the name Boston United or 'Dunstable Rangers', this changes nothing. we need to be focussed on what is really important, staying in the new league.'' here Berry is obviously talking about the tough challenge they will face in the Blue Square North this season. it really will be interesting to see where this club goes in the future.

This case is not an altogether new one with fellow semi-proffessional outfit Gravesend and Northfleet being bought up by a website in the February of 2008, with the website giving fans options to choose who plays in what position and which transfer targets to persue. the new investor has been keen to rubbish claims of the same sort of things happening and branded such ventures as a 'circus'. he made it quite clear in an interview with a local newspaper that ''the manager will be given full trust and control to do what he wants to do with the club and its staff''.​
