I'm in my 6th season with Sparta Rotterdam at the moment. It's a good challenge.
My advice for the dutch league is to play a very narrow formation. Most of the fields are narrow and wide men don't do so well. I do fairly well playing a 4-1-3-2. It's hard to attract good players to Holland, and it's been impossible for me to expand my stadium. You have to sell players to keep the books balanced unless you play as one of the top three clubs, so be ready to purchase loads of free transfers and selling them later. Focus on your youth academy and training to improve your team over the long-haul.
