Editor Data in FMC

why cant you use a custom database in FM Classic ?
Is there any way around this ?

Start a new full game, loading your custom database. When you get to the country select screen, quit back to the start screen and start a new classic game. Your custom database should now load.

I tried that, but when I get back to the start screen and click on Classic game it only gives me the option to load the default db or the 1.3 update.
After getting to the countries screen I went back to the start screen using the option in the FM drop down menu.

They 'fixed' this in one of the earlier patches for some unknown pathetic reason. Probably going to add it next year and use it as a 'new FMC feature' to sell FM14
