Turkish UEFA Europa League contenders Galatasaray SK have signed Brazilian international Elano from Manchester City FC for an undisclosed fee.

European campaign
The 28-year-old creative midfielder has agreed a four-year contract at the Istanbul club after two campaigns at City where he made 62 Premier League appearances, scoring 14 goals. Elano made his name at Santos FC in his homeland, spending four seasons there before moving to Europe, and FC Shakhtar Donetsk, in 2004. A free-kick specialist, he made his Brazil debut the same year and has gone on to play 33 times for his country. His international exposure and successful three-season spell in Ukraine alerted him to City who paid €9.5m for the playmaker's services in August 2007. Elano joins fellow new arrivals Leo Franco and Kader Keita at Galatasaray, who kick off their European campaign tonight away to Maccabi Netanya FC in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round.

But a great transfer by Galatasaray. Frank Rijkaard is planning a 4-3-3 formation. The forwards will be Harry Kewell, Milan Baros, Kader Keita. And behind them, there will be 2 attacking midfielders which are Arda Turan and Elano.

well i guess it was a great transfer by Galatasaray
man city didn't need him anyway if he had stayed till january man city would just hav got rid of him by them.
