On a wet Breezy, cold night in Poland England claim their finest hour since that of 1966. Some players from the infamous 'Golden Generation' who thought after the debacle of South Africa 2010 they would never again pull on the national shirt, earned redemption in Stadio Slaski, Chorzow.
The new generation of England players, who were showing much promise, have fast tracked success and will now join the imortals of Charlton, Hurst, Moore and co.

The man who masterminded this has been swamped with praise, fans forums have been over run with praise and talks of knighthoods are all the range.

It was then left to captain Steven Gerrard to lift the trophy and spark scenes of jubilance throughout Poland and England, truly a remarkable night in English football history.
FA Statment regarding the European Championships:
' We are absolutley delighted by the performance of the team and the coaching set up. We had put a plan in place to challenge for the 2014 world cup and win the 2018 world cup, but to win a tournement so soon is incredible and was not at all predicted all the praise must go to Ollie and his team and we feel we can give ourselves a pat on the back for the appointment after the scrutiny we endured when signing him up.'
The latest development from the FA is that if Connolly stays he will have to appoint a new captain as after holding the European Championship trophy aloft Steven Gerrard has resigned as captain to allow someone else to take the reigns.
Gerrard's statement: 'I am so delighted that my last act as England captain was to win the sides first trophy since the '66 side, i felt after this glorious success it was the right time to step down, this will give another younger player a chance to lead the side into the world cup. I would like to re-itterate however that i am not retiring from international football and i will always be availible to play for my country.'
