English players.

Hi. I hope this is the correct section.

I have recently started a game with Man City. I finished 3rd in my first season, winning the FA Cup and the Carling Cup in the process. So having qualified to the CL I want to strengthen in order to challenge for the Premiership and the Champions League, however, I think I need to add a few more English players to meet new quotas etc etc.

I have bought Hamsik, R V Persie, Van Der Vaart, Vicente and Mexes for my first team in my first season.

I now have £85m to spend. I don't particularly need to strengthen a particular area, but would like to strengthen. I looked at RB and LB with Cole and Johnson but no amount of money could prize them away from their clubs. So who would you recommend buying? Good English players? etc.

I'm new to the game, getting used to it, easing myself in... however you want to put it.

You are Man City. If I'm right your Man City homegrown players should be Stephen Ireland, Michael Johnson, Micah Richards, Shaun Wright-Philips, Vladmir Weiss and Nedum Onuoha while Gareth Barry, Shay Given, Wayne Bridge, Joleon Lescott and Joe Hart are England homegrown. Unless you had done some massive cleaning WHY THE **** WOULD YOU NEED MORE ENGLISH PLAYERS?

Weiss and Hart have been sold.

And I would prefer to buy English players...

And just so you know - Shay Given is Irish... I'm trying to buy mainly English players, not just to meet quotas, but because I want to.

I presume all these responses mean you don't have a clue, nevermind..
 
Steven Taylor,Joe Mattock,Leighton Baines,Kieron Gibbs?
 
Steven Taylor would be a great capture. Cheap and underrated.

You know what etc means, right? If you seriously have nothing to add other than how I choose to play my own game take it to PM, mate. As this is boring...

Thanks for the responses, everyone else. I looked at Gibbs but didn't put a bid in, and my scouts said Baines wasn't going to improve so I didn't think he was going improve my squad. I'll have a look at the others, cheers!
 
i think scouts are sometimes wide of the mark m8 i wudnt listen to everything they say!!
 
I brought in a pretty good back room staff though! 18+ judging potential and ability, is it worth taking a risk on players rather than getting scout reports?
 
i dno but that angel di maria everyone is talkin about being awesome my scouts say he will only be a decent signing so i dno reali m8 its up to u!! is mark beevers ne good on this game? and you should get lee cattermole i really r8 him on fm
 
LOL ok then I'll teach you a magic trick. How about searching for good players by browsing through the national squads? There's the senior team, the U-21 and U-19. You can slowly take your time and look at their stats. You can even look at the ratings that they are playing for their team to see if they're consistent or not! How nice is that? I'm pretty sure good young English players like Wilshere, Gibbs, Shelvey, Mattock, Bostock, Baxter, Gosling, Rodwell, Welbeck, Sturridge, Delfouneso, Tomkins, Naughton, Lee Cattermole etc are already playing for the youth squad. If you want more experienced players then just look at the national squad. Nothing is easier than finding players from the same nation. If not then browse through the starting eleven for the clubs in EPL. English players never play outside their own league.

Some fantastic young players in that list, if you dont need players i recommend you buy some young en's n get them tutored/trained to become stars in the future.
