ERROR: Unable to start server

Often, when I want to host a network game I get this message ERROR: Unable to start server. If I am playing my coplayer is kicked out and cannot join. If I restart the game I get the same message and my coplayer is unable to join. It is an on/off problem, but still extremely annoying. How do I solve this problem?

Have you got the same patchas the player your playing. If you got the real version of the game your be 12.1.1 but pirated your gonna have 12.04 or 12.02 and therefore if somebody tries joining with a different patch your gonna have no luck whatsoever as you both need the same patch. Otherwise check your firewall and check your firewall on the router and open a port google portforward football manager guide and go to portforward website and it should help you set that up. A lot better than hamachi and wont lag you out

So you both got 12.0? It hasnt updated through steam? I'd assume its cos you have different versions. Happened to me on older games with a mate when he updated to the patch and i didnt. Try and both update to the same patch and you should be ok. Failing that make sure your firewall is granting access in and outgoing to football manager and hamachi or whatever your using.

Don't know what versions we have. Both of us have set Steam to auto-update the game so both versions should be up to date. He can normally join the game but after a couple of minutes he is kicked out and unable to join. If I try reloading the game I always get the Error: Unable to start server.

Normally if I restart the game a couple of times or just restart steam he can join again, only for the hole thing to happen again!

If it was different versions you wouldn't be able to join at all. I doubt it would just stop working.
I'd check my firewall settings. Anti virus settings if you have that installed. Myself I don't use anti virus or firewall for the sake of online gaming. When yous ingame at the top of the middle screen it says the version ur using. 12.0... and another number probably or 12.1.1 like mentioned above.
