Thinking it maybe a 1-0 job against the Italians too cant see it being a goal fest :D

were shocking first half but decent second half. Terry did play well tonight and his clearance was great but it was his fault it occured in the first place. Lack of Pace badly exposed. Oh well got our luck and France bottled it, bring on Italia!

Sunday is going to be horrific for the neutrals, two of the most defensive teams playing each other. Sort of pleased we have the chance to beat the Germs if we get through though :)

Think I might put a bet on Balotelli getting sent off sunday, coz hopefully Lescott will do a Ronaldo on him :D

another loss for the officials.

Roy's had a dream start as England manager. Long may it continue.

It depends on your definition of defensive, to me putting 11 behind the ball is defensive, controling the game in the midfield is not. But this must be the shittest tournament ever since the "defensive" team has the most shots, goals and possesion.

My friend just told me she thought that Euro 2012 was a special tournament made to help raise money for the Euro Crisis. I laughed. Hard

Gerrard has truly flourished in this Euro without being cramped in midfield with Lampard/Scholes/whatever, makes you wonder what would happen is someone tried that couple of years ago when the Golden Generation wasn't balding yet.

Lucky more like was caught out in first place and ball was over the line lucky jt
it was offside in the first place so you can't really blame him for being caught out... Recovered badly but he would not have had to if the linesman gave the offside

Going to hold my hands up right now, before we play Italy, and say that I was wrong about Gerrard playing deep for England. He's been brilliant. Disciplined, energetic, but most importantly excellent pass selection. He's mature enough now to select the right pass, and he's only missed five out of 19 long ball attempts. Moreover, 129/149 passes completed and seven key passes indicate he's not only retaining possession well but also doing something with it. An excellent job all round, and I've never been happier to admit I've been proved wrong.

With Rooney back - he had a tidy game yesterday, though he was dispossessed a lot, something that I'm sure won't happen as he gets more match time - we've got someone who can knit everything together into a proper attack. Varied options on the flanks, a cohesive central midfield duo full of energy, a fluid strikeforce that has potent and different options off the bench, and a goalkeeper that looks more impressive every day... I'm liking our chances against an Italy side that has the most Cassanata-prone frontline in the world. Moreover, they're playing a formation that is easily overloaded on the flanks, and with two full-backs that like to get forward and Milner someone who can track an opposition wing-back all day (Young is no slouch either) I think that we could have the edge tactically if Rooney can drop onto Pirlo and hassle his play.

Lol. Yeah. So far, goal line refs should get Worst Invention of The Year award. They just stand there doing nothing , not having impact on anything. I don't know if UEFA was saving and recruited some hobos for that positon, or if it just gave instructions to those refs to simply stand there and wave hands, so people shut up about GL technology.

I think one thing England have to watch out with is them long shots, I mean Ukraine never really had anyone capable from long distance like Italy do, got to make sure we block them and press the ball a bit more, I think we do not need to be too defensive.

Italy is a tough opponent and I hope we can keep Pirlo quiet, he is the key. I really think it will be a tight game and no stand out winner, maybe even go to extra time/penalties (although I hope not).

That goal by Ukraine was offside, so the goal not given was justice in a way. But leading up to that goal it was Terry's lack of pace that led to the goal, he had a good game, but when we are slightly pushed up, Terry is exposed, which is why Jagielka should be playing. Against Italy you do not want a really deep defensive line or you will be punished, but you have to with Terry.

If England do get past Italy, Gerrard will be a potential Player of the tournament, he has been that good

Also Joe Hart has been colossus in goal, great to finally have a steady Keeper, seemed the last 4 or 5 made mistakes in all key moments

Gerrard has suprised everyone, no one thought he could produce like this in a deep CM position, top class player and I hope he continues to perform well, he really deserves a trophy to hold as captain, been a great role model as well.

As soon as I saw it was over the line I thought that corrupt idiot would be moaning about it. Why is it that the heads of both FIFA and UEFA hate England?

Its all Political, 'No one likes us, but we dont care'

would be a useful chant right now

Since the penalty was awarded in the opening game there has been 52 fouls within the penalty box. Every single one has been deemed as a foul by an attacker.
