I don't see what Rodwell has done for everyone to be so excited about him :/ There's some raw talent there, but he's yet to show anything that convinces me he will be international standard.

How can he when he has been so injury prone? He needs a injury free season and the potential is definitely there to be an England international.. whether the injuries he has will effect that who knows.

Also, I cant see why Sturridge should be in the starting line up, would have Walcott and Chamberlain ahead of him.

I already put Ox in the team, besides I said it was a rough team. I was just pointing out that there is plenty of potential talent there and in my original post I completely forgot Cleverley. Everyone knows about Walcott and he has been around a long while, never really cut it so far, Sturridge is one who has not been given a real chance yet.

Harsh imo.. Sturridge has just had a very good season with Chelsea but was dropped towards the end by RDM because RDM wanted a more defensively aware Kalou/Malouda on the flanks against the better teams due to his tactics.

Not to mention Sturridge has only made 2-3 apps for England, should be given more chances to prove himself before we judge him. Fantastic talent and great potential in him no doubt and only 22.. His game still needs tweaks but he can become a fantastic player along with Ox

It was the easiest.
However, catching the group of death would certainly give us this perk, no ;)?

Have to say, personally found this match boring until cr7 scored, then livened up a bit, also out of all the quarter finals, was going to be only one winner in this one, and also the easiest one to get to the semi's from.

Exactly, hope RDM can try and get his selfish streak out of him as well.

tbh this was Sturridge's first proper season for Chelsea and he was played in a unfamiliar position. Under AVB he was encouraged to go for the goal and show his flair and it worked well however under RDM, he was required to be more conservative in his play and he had trouble making the transition

Not to mention he has to put more effort into defending. Not really his fault, he was always trained as a Centre-Forward and even played that role in his breakout performances for Bolton... He needs to tweak his game and improve it but some of the criticism he has received from people including Chelsea fans is unfair particularly after the good season he has had

Not harsh at all, selfish, poor decision making compared to the other competition, poorer passing, poorer work rate. He's defintely being those two in terms of selection.

Selfish for sure although people tend to exaggerate that sometimes.. Not as bad as Robben imo but bad enough that he could get dropped. Again this needs to be solved and I think he has learned his lesson after being dropped by RDM

Disagree with you on the passing bit... He is not as bad as you make out. Pretty decent

Partly agree with you on work-rate, he can be found wanting sometimes in terms of tracking back but thats mainly because he has been playing since young in a Centre Forward role. He needs to improve that aspect which he has done over the course of this season. Still needs work though

Fancy Germany not playing Gotze at all in this Euro's, heard huge rave reviews about him in Germany and for Dortmund.

Goetze been injured for nearly half the season and is short of match practice/form. Even then Germany have more than enough talent to compensate. Oezil, Mueller and the new star Schurrle

Passing is below that of OX and Chamberlain, and Lennon.

Ditto work rate. Its that part that also got him dropped for Chelsea, Di Matteo required his wide players to track back. Hodgson so far has asked the same. So he needs to improve. But as it stands I cant see how he could be named in the first 11 ahead of either Walcott or Chamberlain.

Gotze is probably their biggest upcoming talent though, been outstanding for Dortmund and I still think he is better than Podolski in the position he plays for Germany.

The point of this originally was the talent we have coming through, not necessarily who will be in the first 11. I think personally we have quite a lot coming through and I do not know what all the fuss is about when people say we do not have much.

He isnt. Podolski is a lethal Inside forward. Gotze is a playmaker, whose finishing isnt anywhere near that of Poldolski's

Gotze has pace, vision, passing, I think he is better suited to that German team and could supply Gomez more than Podolski does.

Edit: Trouble defences a lot more, watch him for Dortmund, outstanding.

What is Goetze exactly? A No. 10 or does he prefer to play on the right/left and drift about the place

Except that isnt the role required on the outside. Podolski is quick, creates well, tracks back hard. There is a reason he is always there. He is the second forward in the side. Playmaker through the middle, hard working winger forward on the right, its pretty much how Germany always line up. Gotze is a 10, and his place is occupied by Ozil.

He is a playmaker like Mike said but he can be lethal on the flanks, he plays there quiet often for Dortmund and he has a lot of attributes such as pace/vision/passing etc.

I think Gotze would definitely cause defences a lot of problems and supply Gomez more than Podolski or even Muller does for that matter.

Podolski and Muller both have a very good goal scoring record for Germany considering that they play very wide so that Ozil and Schweinsteiger have space in the middle to supply Gomez. If Gotze played he would want to move into that space so there would be less space to create chances.

A No.10, who drifts into the channels. Been playing on the right for Dortmund this season till injury though.
