I don't mean to sound negative about England. I said all along we'd do well to get out the group and we somehow won it! Quarters is a good achievement and the players can be proud. Roll on WC 2014

He was PK taker at Villa.

O dear lol. He can be a good player but I just think he's out of his depth at international level unfortunately. That's why I haven't picked him yet for the national side in FM lol.

If we want to go 4-4-2, I'll suggest what I've suggested a few times before-put Leighton Baines at LM

Always had a feeling England would lose. Never expected England to get past QF stages so not really surprised. Only thing that surprised me is that it went all the way to pens.

The Germans will be much more of a test than England tonight, they look like the best side.

Whens the semis again? Tonights match may have taken a lot out of the players

And Germans had 2 more days to rest. Missed pens or not, propably lost cause in the semis for either team.

Wednesday and Thursday. pretty unfair in-terms of resting time for the winners tonight. germany have rested more by the time the semis happen.

My thoughts exactly-those 48 hours will be crucial. Hoping for a good match. Still going with Germany to win the tournament.

Rooney and Young worst two players on the pitch, Gerrard once again England's best player at a major tournament.

Did better than expected, with a squad lacking in balance. It doesnt matter what kind of football you play, you will always needs positionally adept deep passing player. Look at every major side. They have at least one. There are a few raw young types. If england want to play, thats where you start building the side.

I think credit has to be given to the Italian manager as well as Pirlo etc yes we was absolutely outclassed but this was mainly at the end of the first half and the second half.

The reason being was as alot have noticed England have been trying to play a high defensive line with not the fastest centre backs. Dont get me wrong Terry, Lescott have been very good in the tournament.

But by the Italians playing the long ball in the first half forced our back line further back and as a result our midifeld back moved further back which allowed Pirlo space to weave his magic.

If you noticed in the first 20 minutes our attack and midfield was a lot more compact as our defence was pushed higher up and balls too Pirlo where rare and closed down a bit better soon as our back line had to drop deep their midfield just took over as they had a lot of space between our midfield and attackers.

Our midfielders didnt want to push out of shape to close down Pirlo etc. as it would have allowed them to pass through. Equally our attackers didnt want to drop deep to put pressure on them.

We really needed to bring Carroll on to drop deep and chase down the midfielders as he did but put a pace machine as an outlet on their back line or had rooney drop deep and again an outlet.

All our problems where created by the employing the long ball against our slow defence and rigid shape.

Im not knocking England team in any way as they defended brillantly but as it has been proven if you dont have a plan B you will fizzle out sometimes.

The game plan was working the first 20 minutes because the side was stepping up and compressing the space. But then the back line was exposed for pace, particularly terry, with those balls over the top, so it dropped off. If roy wants to play like we did in that 15 minutes where we put italy under pressure, he needs to pick the centrebacks for it. Thats Jagielka and Lescott/Smalling.

I think Glen Johnson would like to have a word with you. He was our best player tonight, and probably over the tournament.

I totally agree with that and I think that is what he will bring in for the next tournament but Jagielka / Smalling / Lescott dont have much experience, but with the qualifiers for the next tournament Im hoping that he will start to leave Terry on the bench and play / experiment with other combinations and hope one of those steps up and commands the back line.
