The ridiculousness is all a part of your opinion, in the same way you can think that what I say is ridiculous I can do the same to you.

I love how you mention the "somehow" wanting to help Spain referee, when it is clear that there are hidden interests behind football and referees are very often "helped" in monetary or other ways to favour certain teams, and that has all been proved and fact in Portugal too ;) Why can't it happen in UEFA? it's as rotten or worse even than any dodgy league.

I should stress though, that Portuguese DO NOT, hate Spanish and Spanish do not hate Portuguese.
When Dorado mentions the Brazil-Argentina rivalry he is slightly exaggerating.

End note: Thinking that football does not have any form of result fixing or shady bussiness inside, is dumber than a second coat of paint.

If you say it doesnt mean a thing, then you really dont know how it the referee committee works.

Like I said, you are sounding like a bad conspiracy loser.

Your theory is that Villar has a good friend, the vice president Erzik, who is a marketing director for UNICEF, therefore he must love Barcelona, and therefore fancy Spain, so he has gone for a Turkish ref, who for some reason, will arbitrarily fancy Spain. That is the definition of conspiracy nonsense. There is no logical argument there.

It isnt related to Spain. Nothing about that is wrong or implies conspiracy.

Seriously you're starting to sound so ridiculous, that I actually want to Spain to win on a dodgy goal. I was actually backing Portugal up until this point.

I've never said there isnt corruption, so your last point is irrelevant to me.

But do you have any credible evidence in this case, anything other than wild conspiracy? No, that is why what you have said is actually nonsense.

England will never improve until we use a different system/formation. There was far too much space and time for a team of Italy's class to play and we need to have a defensive line without Terry so we can actually push up a bit, compress the spaces. Did you see how high Italy's defensive line was at times?

I never said that he will, without any doubt, harm Portugal and favour Spain.

In fact I said that I hope you're right and I am wrong, it's as simple as that.

What matters is that all of this is suspicious and it's a matter of promiscuity that shouldn't exist in football.

All that casual *** really has been the death of football.

I once had to do four coats on one room...just saying

As I wrote this I knew someone would comment on that -_-

In portuguese we use promiscuity for both sexual meaning, and also certain connections that shouldn't exist, but I should have used "conflict of interest", but I spare pansy words ;)

Spain's games often are hard for refs, as you should expect from watching technically gifted side that would gladly have 90% of posession , but is somewhat weaker physically.

Its like i often hear people rage about Iniesta being a "diver". He might indeed be diving sometimes, but fact is, it doesn't take much force from 1.90m tall, 90kilo defender to knock someone half his size in the air. Even small fouls often look bigger vs. him, which often confuses the refs. But ref conspiracy, seriously?

I disagree with you, but then again I haven't seen much of Bertrand, but a lot of Gibbs.

That's fair enough, i do urge people to try watch Bertrand if they have not though, when he replaced Cole last season he played so well it was as if Cole was still playing.

But if there is a controversial decison in Spains favour, it doesnt mean it was a conspiracy.

Well there are certain things that are human error, of course.
But others are on the border of incompetence, as our coach said, "Most referees are incompetent, if they become professionals, they will become incompetent ones."

I want to bring up the debate from a little while ago where you (I think) argued Van Aanholt would be better than Bertrand. I disagreed. ;) Still, I can see why you thought that at the time. Bertrand's come from practically nowhere to start a CL final. Good on him. Even if he isn't better than Gibbs, it seems we have the left-back and its backup slot pretty much tied down for another decade, barring catastrophe.

There's a difference between incompetence, and conspiracy. The former is far more common It sounded like you were far too quick to move to conspiracy before a ball was even kicked.

I hoped no-one remembered that haha. At the time i had seen more from Van Aanholt in bigger games or at a bigger stage than i did from Bertrand. I only saw Bertrand in Championship games but now seeing him last season he is way way ahead of Van Aanholt.

All eyes on Roy now. For me, all the leniency of a having no time to prepare before the Euros disappears. Looking to see what he comes up with between now and 2016. I'm ignoring 2014 tbh.

Exactly why I said you were justified in thinking that. Bertrand's been excellent, and he's showed a bit of versatility too. Whilst Gibbs has progressed defensively to the point where he is no longer a liability, it's nice to have an old-school properly good defender left-back option in Bertrand. Dunno whether he's learned from Ashley, but there's definite shades to his play that are Cole-esque. He doesn't quite have Cole's blistering early-career pace, but there are similarities.

Good start from him, I think. He did about as well as could be expected. Now, it's all about phasing in youngsters and revamping the team properly, to be able to do more than just play on the counter.
