Phew! Lost by bad luck the second match of the league cup, so I got three points below Braga and needing to win by three goals margin. Not imposssible considering my league match I beat them 2-0, but since lately it seemed teams were getting my 4-3-3 formation's gist, I changed to a 4-2-2-2 (2XMC 2XAMRL) pairing Adriano with López. Some clear chances missed at start of match, got my first goal in minute 40 by Adriano. Then in 57 he made the second and in 61 López completed the score. Then I went back to the classic 4-3-3 with some defensive modifications, because Braga had been enjoying some more chances and more clear than I would like. It didn't help much, as with the result against them they started to play more aggresive and they enjoyed a few more clear chances, including a shot to the crossbar, but they didn't achieve to score. So, qualified first of group.
But the big phew! comes from the transfer market. Real Madrid made an offer for López, my top goalscorer (and currently the league's top goalscorer too and top performer), and he wanted to discuss terms. So I chose a sly move: I made a proposeal changing the €11.5M offer into a simple exchange for Saviola, who in worst case could work as a fine replacement or couple for a tactic with two strikers. López accepts Real's contract, I offer Saviola all I can, which is above in bonuses but a bit below in basic wage, with chances he'll accept (I want being sly but not *******), with the luck other teams start making offers for him and he finally takes Sevilla, so López stays and he's not unhappy (might not had been the same if I refused RM from start? though he was happy at my team and to other rumours said he didn't want to move).
The other fear that comes now is Meireles, my second goalscorer with Guarín and best midfielder of the team, specially in attacking duties, has told the press he doesn't feel the challenge of playing in Porto being enough for him. And there's a few weeks until the transfer window closes :s.
In other news, Hulk was taken away. He was not a bad player, but I didn't use him much (started two matches and three came from the bench, scoring one goal) so it's not a loss, but the money paid in front can be a difference for new signings; besides, the monthly fees from my other signings seem to be putting losses on the team, with Bofo's not yet in action, I think, so getting the income from his transfer may compensate the others enough to keep finances good enough. I haven't checked them closely and should not be a problem, but since I may still make one or two more signings I chose to play it safe and accept his transfer.
