Everton - Need serious help

I'm just about to start my third season in charge of Everton, but I can't find any consistency in results.
Even though my squad has improved quite a bit, and I have some really good players, I don't think we are playing any better than we were two years ago.

My current tactics are below. I basically want to make the most use out of Ross Barkley, who has become an exceptionally good player.

use a stopper cover combo,no offside trap, no overlaps, set your fullbacks to support duty and have barkley on attack duty
