So to cut the long story short, I'll bullet point the good, the bad and the ugly

GOOD

  • Survived relegation in my first season with Hull even with a 5 straight defeat run, finishing 17th
  • Got 2 Strikers who are rated 4 Stars for my team, Hull (Steven Fletcher, Jordan Rhodes)
  • Got Demichellis on loan from Man City even though he was 33
  • Improved Contract, that's all that I can think about.
BAD

  • After a Fans Player of the Year season for F.Erazo (defender from ecuador, ?500k), due to an unknown contract clause, I lose him to Galatasary. Soo sad :'(
  • In my Opinion, money badly spent! Lost 9M on Steven Fletcher,Jordan Rhodes and Demichellis, money which I could have saved for better buys in the seasons ahead
  • Mcgregor, main keeper, injured for 6 months, got Bardi on loan
  • Squad Chemistry is now ****** with too many new players and guys like Livermore and Graham leaving due to the inability to extend loan
UGLY

  • Second season, tipped for relegation, first game of the season, 5-0 against West Brom at Home
  • Second game of the season, 5-0 against Liverpool
  • Morale is reaching a new low with at least seven players in the abysmal status
  • Rating is also reaching a new low, with Demichellis (4.40) to Tom Crainey (6.90) being the min and max ratings in my team. Most players fall under the 4.7/4.9 range.

This REALLY needs fixing, so ****** off that I have chosen to start the season again!! Never done that!!

Please can someone give me some Short-Term and Long-Term Solutions plus how to approach the West brom game at Home, Liverpool away and Arsenal away. Thanks

well it would help to see your tactic, team/player instructions. Other than that, It seems you need to focus this year more on getting the best out of your players. Make sure Morale is high, encourage position battles, and tell players you will transfer list them if they don't perform. There is a huge difference between losing because of poor match performance, and losing due to bad luck, or a team just being flat out better. Sign determined players with good work rates.

On a Google search type in Football Manager 2014 a 12 step guide. Absolutely brilliant read and offers some great advice

I decided to take account of the players Determination, Concentration and Anticipation(Defenders and Defensive Midfielders).
I also decided to choose players based on average rating and work harder on improving morale.

If anyone knows a guide to improving morales in FM14 please post a link or just give it out here

I have decided to worry less about player ability ratings and during a match, by watching split screen, i focus only on the team avg rating, once it goes significantly lower or is not about the same or higher than the opponents rating, i start tweaking player instructions.

So far its working,
vs West Brom 2-2
vs Liverpool 1-0
vs Arsenal 1-2 but we had a good game and lead 1-0 for 70 minutes
vs Wigan 2-2 Wigan are in immense form (1st) and a draw was good enough for me
vs Reading 1-4 This annoyed me a lot because the system of player instruction tweaking didn't work

I'm very happy with the restart as the results keep me further away from the relegation zone but i need an improved method than the one I have come up with in order to avoid defeats like the one against Reading.

Jordan Rhodes was top scorer last season in my game, with liverpool 26 goals. Tough luck.

Not bad then, that kind of thing motivates me to know that such player is capable of that.

I'm a novice with fm tactics too but i would suggest a really high line with very average defenders is costing you.

Also and this is just my personal opinion standing off and attacking philosophies dont really go together, standing off is something i'd associate with counter attacking.

I take account of all that you are saying. With that being said, I will have an alternate tactic where standing off and counter attack are used. If you can give me a better tactic at closing gaps between defenders and midfielders then I'll be really glad.
