Turkey's Hamit Altintop has won the FIFA Goal of the Year award (known at the Puskas award, named after the Hungarian great), beating off competition from around the world.

Altintop's sensational volley for Turkey against Kazakhstan was voted number one in the list, ahead of nine other strikes. Also in the running was little known Glentoran man Matthew Burrows, who scored an incredible mid-air back-heel flick into the top corner. All contenders are in the video below.

Personally, I think Burrows should've won.
 
Imagine telling your grandchildren that you beat Lionel Messi in a best goal competition ? Wow :O
 
Giovanni deserves it :) He stopped playing as international after that match. Resigned @ feyenoord. Great carreer, even better goal. Ex Rangers, Barcelona. And since i'm Dutch a very beautiful goal in the semi finals :D Weeeee I remember it like yesterday.

Hallenius should've won.
 
Matthew Burrows goal was a fluke but I'd still say it was best
 
I loved Burrows' goal, pure class. Just pure instinct, and simply incredible.

If he tried that another 1000 times he would never do it, Hence why i think it was a fluke
 
I voted for it in a poll online a little while back, glad i was right. Excellent finish and as i would say "Jacko like".
 
Would have had a hard time picking between Burrows and Hallenius, Altintop's probably wouldn't have broken top 4 for me.
 
matty burrows goal was truly amazing, ive seen it so many times now and its still brilliant :)
 
Would love to know how Robbens on the list, his goal was average at best.

Forlan scored a few exceptional goals during WC i thought he'd feature in the top 5 to be honest.
