FIFA Plan Reforms To Abolish Player Agents By 2011 - Report

FIFA are planning to abolish the use of player agents by drawing up new rules which will allow players to choose just one intermediary.

Player agents will no longer be used to govern trading and working relationships between players and clubs under radical new proposals by FIFA, football's world governing body.

Under the new regulations, to come into force by October 2011, according to Tuttosport, the use of agents as we know it now will be abolished.

Players will only be allowed to choose one person to represent them and they will be known as an 'intermediary' who will conduct all management affairs and relations on their behalf.

Furthermore, the intermediary will not be required to possess any binding qualification. FIFA's executive committee are expected to take the proposals into the next phase by June.

As part of the new proposals, any legal infractions will be the responsibility of players and clubs, not the agent.

Reports claim FIFA have already cancelled future exams for would be agents in preparation for the new proposals to be approved.

It is said FIFA want to eradicate the fashion of players having several agents or representatives.

No more agent interaction in fm2012 :@

I read that on Goal.com and tbh, it may be a good idea.

But it will cost a massive amount of jobs.

Interesting. However, may leave young and naive payers open to some sly haggling.

hmm, not sure about this, but we will see if it happens, unreliable source but you never know

I dont understand, wont the intermediary be something like an agent for the player? or correct me if i am wrong

lol, I bet SI are ******, all that work for nothing.

But yeah, they've just ****** away a ton of jobs. Could you imagine paying for an agent exam, only to have it flushed down the drain?

But now some intermediaries are going to be real scumbags, sort of like the situation with Cuban baseball players. A lot of them have scumbag handlers who peddle their player out and then extort them for 50% of their cash.

what is the difference between and intermediary and an player agent

It's not about banning agents. Read the article.

There are no more required qualifications or official title for Agents, you can be a former agent and be an intermediary for a player.

The ruling is meant to prevent players from having multiple intermediaries/agents.
