Which tactic do you think would work best for a BSP team climbing the divisions? Super bomb or Impossible?

I play chester, won promotion to League 2 after first season.

Is that so ? I'm thinking of doing that too ! Currently using Madrid, so basically i'm the fav in almost every game.. Because i noticed i conceded a lot of goals because oppos striker always managed to break offside trap..

I was tempted to actually play with the deeper defensive line in every game regardless of opposition. There were a few times that I started with the higher defensive line with offside trap but switched it early in the game because the opposition had a CCC on a deep ball just minutes into the match.

Basically there are really two main ways that goals happen in this version of the ME. Set pieces, and defenders being caught flat-footed by a long ball. Dropping deeper and not playing the offside trap really helps stop the flat-footed defenders problem. It doesn't fix it entirely, but it really reduces the number of times you see a striker running 20 yards clear of your nearest defender.

Right, thank you mate ! Just wonder if you can show me how u analyzed the match (u said u knew opp got CCC in early minutes)

Ive been using normal defensive line (no setting picked) with offside trap
Well well ! This makes sense too.. I mean, should try this..
Did you do this all-the-way..? And is it necessary, the offside trap ? Whats ur opinion ?

Well the normal line helps a lot with the opposition getting behind the defence but keeping the offside trap on keeps the defence more in line and helps with runners for me. Used a whole season and ive noticed a definite reduction in goals especially "silly" goals.

I just watched to see if the opponent was getting a good chance early in the match. If they had any chances on long balls at all, I took off the higher up and offside trap instructions. There was no deeper analysis than that. If I decided to make changes, usually I would hit drop deeper, but I have considered that just a normal defensive line with offside trap might be a good compromise.

Basically the match odds and the analysis can't always tell you exactly how the opponent will play. Sometimes you face a team that you think is bigger and will not try deep long balls to a poacher type of striker, but they are actually trying it. Basically if your opponent is trying long balls and a striker is always sitting on the shoulder of your defender, in this ME you do NOT want to be pushed up with offside trap ticked. You will absolutely give up some CCC from your defender being caught flat-footed.

First of all, thank you for all the tactics Jassar. Whenever the game gets a little boring or simply too hard for me, I dip into your tactics and they usually work wonders!

I have a question regarding the tactics interface though. In my current save, I'm using Super Bomb at home and Underdog God Away. However, when I switch from one to the other, the players selected end up in the wrong position. So i've tried dragging them back into the correct position and then saving the tactic, but it doesn't change a thing.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? PS: I'm using FMC.

Anyone had similar success with the Tiki-Taka if they switch the halfback to anchorman? This is a shape tweak obviously, as I feel there is nobody in the hole when the opposition breaks.

I Tried the Super bomb tactic for home matches and the 4-1-4-1 for away matches just like Jassar suggested in his post. The season before this I uses Xper's tactics but after a few matches i switched back to the good old Bomb away for away matches and bomb home for home games. I managed to win the league with leeds united in my 4th season in the premier league. My main concerns with the old bomb tactics where the following:

- I did score alot goals with my strikers producing the most goals which i liked
- The defense was leaky( I used defensive line adjustments). I barely every kept clean sheats even in home games ( 80 goals scored/ 45 conceded)
- The Bomb away tactic give me decent results far from home, I had a very though time to beat Man U/ City/ Spurs or Arsenal away from home though
- The home tactic was less powerfull, I leaked points to clubs standing lower and never got big scores at home against for example relegation candidates.

So well I wanted to try a new tactic set to try and get a tactic which wasnt so leaky for a champion so I started using the new SUPER bomb tactic set. Here are my results half way through the season:

Super bomb home:
+ The home tactic is less leaky to me defensively and I dominate more against weaker teams
+ Very high amount of corner goals from my central defender
- Against big clubs you get completely overrun at home games ( compare my team atm with a Euro League team statswise), defensive line adjusments dont help against this either
- The chances the other teams gets are alot of CCC's --> alot of goals if they get a chance

The 4-1-4-1 away tactic:

+ Decent defensive play, you never loose bigtime
+ Sometimes good results against bigger teams away from home ( better then old Bomb away)
- If you ever get behind, you need a third tactic because adjusting this to score a goal is useless
- Against weaker teams you or too much the underdog and get dominated and can get very bad results. I almost lost to a L1 team in the Capital One cup because my team let them control the game

Conclusions for me are the following at the moment :

- For home games against mid table/ low table teams --> use the new Super bomb tactic
- For home games against top teams --> Use the old Bomb AWAY tactic with counter mentality.
- For away games against mid table teams/ top teams --> use the new 4-1-4-1 tactic
- For away games against relegation candidates/ lower league teams --> use the old Bomb AWAY tactic(and change the corner settings to the 14.2.2 ones on first page)
- Completely forget about the old Bomb home tactic. Its defensively leaky and not dominant against weaker teams and doesnt work great aswell against top teams.

Overall i wouldn't like to switch between a 4-2-2-2 tactic for home games and another formation for away. But well with this patch atm seems you really need a DM for more solid playing at the back the most games. For the moment I have the following 3 tactics loaded:
1) Super bomb
2) away tactic 4-1-4-1(aka superbomb away)
3) Bomb away

Im considering to change the away tactic to callamity's good old tactic after this season although Im not sure if that gives me even more better results.

1 Question: Do you adjust defensive line for the away tactic aswell? 4-1-4-1 and drop deeper with an attacking mentality doesnt seem logical to me

Really looking forward to other people's feedback about this new super bomb tactic( both home and away) compared to the good old Bomb home and away set from some weeks ago

is your 14.2.2 tactic work well with 14.2.1 ? and which tactic is more compatible.. can u suggest it.

Jassar,

i'm really interested in your opinion on the best 11 players for big clubs.

Thank you !!

What i did is, i change the d-line setting.. for home/away games, when starting the match, i set to NO D-LINE + OFFSIDE TRAP
After half time, i change to DROP DEEPER + NO OFFSIDE TRAP
So far its working good for me..
About you saying "...4-1-4-1 and drop deeper with an attacking mentality doesnt seem logical to me", imo, drop deep only means you can start to build your attack deep in your own half, from the defence.. so its quite logical yeah

thats normal ....drag and chage the players ....they are no the same tactics so its ok to do that

hey mate, i'm back!

i did stop playing FM for a while cause i got bored. maybe it was because i was too sucessfull. and then last week i wanted to give SUPER BOMB a go

so i resigned as manager of mancity and got a job offer from betis sevilla in march 2022. with not too many games left i manged easily to qualify to europe league. I almost got into champions league but atletico was too strong.

after that i was really excited plsying my second seaaon playing with the small Club from sevilla.

i got 10 mio for transfers, so i signed a classy central midfielder, a good goalkeeper and some promising youngsters.

i also signed Rio Ferdinand as AM.

the start to my second wasnt too good, as i had a pretty difficult fixture, playing against barca & madrid in the first 3 games.

but i'm improved a lot and managed to get more vor less same points as the two big guys did.
after getting denied in cup semi final by real madrid i managed to go to top in march and stayed there until the end of the season. really amazing as i won the europe league.

now i really excited about champions league, but i am concerned on the other side about how to improve in league as i did get almost everything out oft this average squad.
