Are the PPP home and away tactics the best ones for the latest patch?

OK, first post on FM-Base. I've been playing this stupidly addictive game since it's first incarnation back in 91/92. I have always looked to use others tactics for my game, I'm simply not interested in tactics development adn would rather plug'n'play something that brings (almost) instant success. In 2013 I used MW (thanks Jassar!) and it worked fantastically. I have only recently moved to 2014 and have been using this thread for my tactics.

I'm playing as Liverpool and in my first season I used the new MW and came 2nd with 78 points, but some of my results against smaller teams were less than impressive (an embarrasing run of 4 draws against bottom half teams ended my title challenge in the run-in). I continued with MW in the 2nd season but then slowly introduced PPP after Christmas, finishing 2nd on 74pts but winning the Champions League (although my draws for each round were very favourable). I seemed to again do well against the bigger teams, but stumble my way to results agains the smaller teams. Suarez netted 22 times in 47 games playing as the CFW.

I've started the 3rd season with PPP and after some good initial wins against lower teams and both Charity Shield and European Super Cup wins over Chelsea, I thought it was going well. But then a 2-0 to 2-2 slip up at Norwich (even after changing to control at 70mins when 2-0 up) and a shock 0-1 result at home against Stoke, I am beginning to wonder if I am using the tactics correctly. So, please take a look at what I am doing and see if anything looks odd:

Match tactics/General Training - I'm following the instructions in the 1st post, but often set match training to Att Movement against the lesser teams (as I was not getting results in the first 1.5 seasons).

D-Line. I don't touch this when I am the favourite, as I believe the purpose of defending deep is to draw out the smaller teams and create space in their half, correct? For the bigger or equal teams I play a higher line and offside trap - this appears to work well.

My player ratings are always pretty low compared to 2013 (Suazer was player the fans POTY with 7.13!). I assume this is just reflective of the new game compared to 2013 rather than bad tactics?

My team is currently

Reina
Kelly/Johnson Balanta/Skrtel Sako/Agger Davies/Gibbs
S.Bender J.Enriquez (MEX)/Casemiro
Sterling/Kampl Holtby/Rakitic K.Asamoah/ Ayew
Suarez/Sturridge

Is there any reason why PPP doesn't seem to be working that brilliantly for me? Judging by others results, I feel like something is wrong in my player selection or match prep?

Whats the difference between Imposibble v2 and impossible Home?

Also which tactic works best for squad with inexperinced players? I want to manage FC Barcelona but I also want to give some good regens a chance to play.

something else I have noticed with PPP - the two DMs rarely get a rating above 7, unless they happen to smash in a rebound from a corner. I sold Leiva due to this as he seemed particularly poor.....but it seems to be inherant for the position rather than which player is played there.

This could be for a few reasons. First, as you play PL, in scout report before the match, you can see that most of your opponents scores through passing game (90 % and more). So you should play against them with higher d-line and offside trap even if you are the favorite. If you are the underdog, use much higher d-line and offside trap. Apply this at home (using HOME tactic) and also away from home (using AWAY tactic). Only when your opponents scores via crossing (equal or more than passing) use much deeper d-line and don´t use offside trap (except if you are the underdog, then go for much higher d-line and offsides). This is how i play. Also, do not ever change mentality during the game. If you want to keep the lead, you could maybe drop d-line or change mentality to your FB´s and DM´s. And be more demanding in your team talks. This is what i´m using (some guy suggested on the other thread):

Pre-Match: If coming of a winning streak- Carry on from last match (Assrt)
If clear favourites or evens- Expect a win (Assrt)
when underdogs- Nobody fancies us (Only if option available, Assrt)

And Individual talks (only prematch): for defence- Hav faith(passnt), Mid- have faith (assrt), Attc-Have faith(assrt)

HT: Winning by a goal or less -Not happy(Assrt)
If losing- Not happy (Aggrs)
Winning but 2 goals but player ratings average below 7 (Not happy- Assrt)
Winning by 2 goals or more and player ratings fairly high on average 7 and above -Very Happy(Pssnt)

Full Time: IF win by 2 or more regardless of player ratings- Very pleased (Passionate)
Win by 1 goal when favourites- bit of a let off(Assrt)
draw or loss- Unhappy (Aggrs)

Set team training and match preparation as it in OP. Train your players for their positions and use heavy workload. Be patient, it took some time for DW (example) to product as you expect. And don´t worry about result against Stoke. They are impossible sometimes. I am not English, but i hope that you can understand what i wrote. Cheers. And this is how it looks like in Bundesliga, so far:

thanks for the tips. Using them I've now played 4 winning 3 and conceding just 1. The draw was probably because I forgot to give a team talk at half time. Will continue using and post the results after more games.

manmark - 9 games in now. 1 draw (messed up team talk) 1 loss (away to Man C - 0-1) and 7 wins including a 5-4 away to AC Milan.....seems to be going nicely.

Using PPP tactics combined with the team talks and D-Line tips in post #8411 have given me these results (playing as Liverpool)

P23 W21 D0 L2

The losses were 0-1 away to Man City and a freak 1-2 vs Palace at home where I battered them in terms of shots on target and possesion.

Wins included Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea (home) and Everton, Tottenham, AC Milan and Juventus (away).

guys im playing dortmund. would u reccomend me using PPP or Impossible?
Thanks!

Great results manmark! I have a small question as I see that you are conceding so few goals

I'm using the PPP with Monaco, and I'm leading the league, but I'm not dominating it (2D, 2L in 20 games) and I'm also conceding to much goals (It's not a disaster but I would like some more clean sheets, I'm conceding as much as teams ranked pos 8-12).

I'm following the instructions you posted on the previous page concerning DLine (when to use high-dline offside, Much higher d-line offside and much deeper dline no offside trap) and Team talks. What are the other important rules you are talking about? or that could help me conceding less goals? I looked at the OP, and there are no seperate instructions where the PPP tactic is introduced.
