MEET THE MANAGER

Catrin Braune is a semi-retired German-Scottish professional football player, born in Berlin, Germany, but raised in the suburbs her mother's hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, with regular trips to visit family in Stade, Germany. Her father and mother were both huge football fans, her father a supporter of St. Pauli and her mother a supporter of Celtic FC. They passed on their love of football by taking the family to Celtic-St. Pauli friendlies and cup games.

While playing for FC St. Pauli Women and studying for her UEFA B license as a potential fallback plan, Bruane was tapped to be an assistant coach for the new FC St Pauli Girls U16 team, a position she put her playing career on hold to accept. While there, she personally recruited and coached several German Womens Youth Team players, as well as multiple FC St. Pauli development contract holders.

As she takes on the mantle of the second ever female manager of a German mens side, Braune hopes to lead her beloved St. Pauli to glory both on the international stage and in Bundesliga.

As Catrin Braune takes over FC St. Pauli, she finds herself in quite the predicament: with a little less than 2 months left in the 18-19 Bundesliga regular season, St. Pauli are in 11th place with an anemic goal diff of -2.

However, with that being said, St. Pauli is certainly not strapped for talent. Buchtman and Flum in particular are having a year worth remembering, and Braune will likely look to use possession-based football to set them up for success.

FT: FC St. Pauli 1 - 1 MSV Duisburg

Certainly we would have liked to have won this one but with it all but guaranteed we're not making promotion, it's all about stability and taking draws and narrow wins. I'm proud of how we played and I see a lot of promise for the future.
