Hi I think this is my first post but I figured out how to get FM 2010 working on my netbook WITHOUT a skin hack
IN YOU USE INTEL GMA 950 CHIPSET in your netbook many do! CHECK!
DO NOT USE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS CHIPSET - INTEL GMA 950
I have done this for WINDOWS 7 (you need to find the driver for XP if you use that but it should work in the same way)
Background :
Most netbooks have "Intel Graphics Media Acceleration Drivers" PLEASE CHECK
Many use the Intel VGA driver for the GMA 950 If you have this chipset then you are in luck
(I have done this on MSI wind u100, Acer 531h) CHECK YOUR chipset, but default maximum resolution is 1024x600
An OFFICIAL version was released that actually allowed higher resolution on your netbook but was superseded very quickly thus not allowing you an increase
THE DRIVER VERSION
Intel VGA driver for the GMA 950 (8.15.10.1912)
this allows you to display resolution of 1024x768 , 1152x864
FM needs 1024x768 minimum
Instructions:
DOWNLOAD Intel VGA driver for the GMA 950 (8.15.10.1912) (find your version XP or windows 7)
(as your version may be already higher)
-Go to CONTROL PANEL -> "uninstall a program"
find and UNINSTALL "Intel Graphics Media Acceleration Drivers"
this may take a few minutes picture may flicker
-Restart your netbook (graphics will be slow as your netbook will use a basic default video driver)
-Then install your downloaded GMA 950 v8.15.10.1912 for your OS (XP/Win7 x32/x64)
after installing restart your netbook
-In "Windows Updates" You will need to HIDE THE UPDATE as it will offer you an update to yoru video driver for your INTEL GMA 950 otherwise you will lose this increase in resolution again!
voila ! FM plays dunno if this is the same with fm 2009 as not really played much previously
NOTES
I would suggest you keep your your resolution at the previous default 1024x600 it just means that when you start FM 2010 it will automatically load up the higher resolution keep it at teh lower 1024x768
A video explains the process
YouTube- Driver Update for Intel GMA 950 Netbooks - 1182x854 without HD-Display
the Win 7 driver is available in the info
I hope this helps many fm users !!!
