Hi,

Currently I am still playing FM 2012. Reasons are I do not like the new interface of FM 13 and the specifically the Goalkeeper AI in 2013 is absolutely ridiculous. They are the dumbest ones among all the FM editions I played in past. So, I did not purchase FM 13 and sticked with my world league database of FM 12 from last two years.

I always purchase FM after i try it in one of my friend's house. He is the only one who plays FM other than me among my friend circle ^^) . But this year he settled in another town.

But the point is I cannot test the FM 14. So all I ask to all FM players, please provide your honest opinions and rate the each section out of 5.

I want to create a new world league db consists of 960 clubs from every nations out there with new league system, continental type of cups and knockouts. According to your feedback I will buy FM 14 else I will stick with FM 12.

1) AI of players in 3d match engines
2) Fluidity of 3d match engines
3) Responsiveness while running full screen compared to FM 12
4) UI cleanliness
5) Depth of simulations

P.S: I am really encouraged for all the support I got for World League DB of FM 12. You made my hard work truly worth!

Interesting thread you have here. Let me first start of by saying i do not usually post here a lot. I have played every version of Championship Manager & Football Manager with all the patches applied to them so i will give you an fair opinion. To be honest there is not much of a difference between FM12-14. Its the same game over again with just a few addons that work well from the lot they market before release. FM 12 is one of the best ever because it has a stable mach engine. Its not easy as some claim but it does not give you crazy situations. FM 13 was always going to be hard to perfect as it was filled with bugs, bugs & bugs. I had to wait till all patches were released before i purchased it. Its a solid game & i really do have fun. Of course it has the odd error here & there but i can live with that.

FM 14 on the other hand is a complete wreck. Same interface as FM 13 with lil changes but its a broken game in every aspect. So many new features added into the game that were rushed in & is not balanced at all. I will skip the match engine as its the worst ever & will take too long to discuss. The game is bugged even at basic level such as interacting with players/board or team meetings not making sense. Too many elements broken & makes me wonder why each year we get a beta version to play for many weeks/months. No patch will fix all this giant mess. Just yesterday i had to delete FM 14 because i was fed up. I won the league & cup yet three of my best player came to me & complained about not qualifying for continental football. Now is that the type of game we want to play? No!! Its clear the game has not been tested long enough. Many patches already yet so many major bugs not yet addressed.

Im back at FM 13 will give 14 a go after its final patch. Since you do not like the new interface of FM 13 i do not see how you can like FM 14. You could try downloading & changing skins but the game itself is a bad & NOT WORTH IT at this stage sadly. I recommend you wait till the final patch is out then buying it. I think that should be the way with future FM games judging by the beta versions they give on release date. As i said FM12-13-14 are the same will a few new addons that may benefit you on the long run. FM 14 IS A NO GO!! Do not waste your hard earned money on it now. Hope my post will help. If you want more detailed info im more that happy to help

Thank you very much Diehenzo for your honest reply. Yeah, I simply hate FM 13 as much as i hate spiders. The match engine is completely **** compared to previous versions. I play FM only to see players are doing exactly what I told them to do. That is the main reason I would play a managerial simulation game, to see what I am telling game engine to do. Randomness only adds fun here, but if a goalkeeper misses 70% of shots in weird way in every match, then it is not randomness. It is simply a BUG which FM 13 contains a lot of it.It seems I am going to stick with FM 12 for now or till FM 15 releases. Thanks again for your elaborated reply.

P.S. I will create a new world league db in fm 12 and upload it in fm 12 editing forum.

You guys think too much. Just play the ******* game and eventually you will get the hang of it.

Q. Why do we play FM?
A. To be the best strategic planner of Football business.

Now, think yourself as a real manager. How would you feel, if any player does not follow your instructions and does exact opposites that you have asked him to do? In real world, this attitude throws a player out of team. In virtual world, this attitude(bugs?) stops me to purchase FM edition.

This game is realistic as it gets. Given it takes time to get use to, because it is not about winning every game. If you are looking for that then stick to FM12. But if you are looking for a real challenge and looking to step into the shoes of "real manager" and want to become the "best strategic planner of Football business" then get FM14.

The players do exactly what you want then to do in FM14 you just have to know what to tell them. ie you cant tell a player with long shot traits not to long shot and not all player will listen to what you tell them, then you have to MANAGE it like a FOOTBALL MANAGER. You can then choose to keep the player and suffer or trade him and cut your losses.

So I think if you like to manage a football team and create the right tactic and play then game as it is done in the real life then buy the game. If you just want to plug and play and win every game dont buy it.

Hope this help your decision! :D

Come on man please try to be a lil objective with your post. Even the latest FM 14 patch has not solved much of the issues the game has. Players still do not do as told to do on the field. Complaining about the game does not mean im bad at it. Just that it is not a finished product & sadly many people seem happy with its current state. Iv got the hang of it but i will never get the hang of bugs, bugs & bugs, NO!! Very funny how people are always quick to defend the game or i guess they too blind to notice the game-breaking bugs. Some of these occur every year which makes me wonder why they cannot fix them.

In the end it depends what you expect from the game & the direction SI are taking. FM 14 does not function at a basic level so its broken. Im doing well in my saves but have not enjoyed any of them because of stupid abnormal things. Why should i give false advice about the game? If you happen to enjoy the game than that is fine im happy for you. But it does not change the fact that the game if far from complete. Just have a look at the FM14 Funny/Random Thread to see how bad the game is & being in denial does not help the situation going forward

I'm not happy with the game as it is, but it is a challenge to see what is wrong and counter attack that. I created a tactic for the new patch and uploaded it here with great success. And all I did was watching the games and analyzing what is wrong and how to play and figure out what kind of players you need. Is that not what managing is all about.

And for upsetting results, you see them every single year is the league, fa cup and league cup and in other leagues. Few this week was Man U vs Newcastle :'(, Hull City vs Swansea (Danny Graham scoring first goal in whenever) , Chelsea vs Stoke. So these thing do happen and I bet you these managers sit and think there was a BUG this week in this game, How did we lose this game?

Guys, no point being contrary. It was a genuine question so stay on topic. SI can defend their game if it needs defending, we (as gamers) are entitled to not like a game.

I'm personally enjoying the game (I hated FM12 so that shows you how different peoples tastes can be :p ). The match engine is prone to infuriating the player from time to time but I don't think it's broken. I coach football in real life so I'm used to thinking "Why the **** are you not doing what I asked you to?"

I think what people are ignorant of (in the world of coaching/management) is that we have no direct control over what the players on the pitch are doing, all we can do is influence! Even the "touchline shouts" are a bit unrealistic. In a stadium of 45k+ people shouting and cheering, all 11 men are going to hear one voice on the touchline?... As a manager, you give them the skills and direction but it's up to them to actually win the match.

As for the goalkeeping. I'm a specialist FAI Goalkeeping coach. The Goalkeeping AI in this game are pretty good; not very good but better than most people are saying. The position is largely based on instinct and years (I MEAN YEARS) of playing to get a sense of 'knowing' what going to happen next and try stop it before it happens.

On the topic of the "FM14 Funny/Random Thread" being proof of the game being broken: Because of the insane number of games being played, with each playing playing multiple saves, the odds of these things creeping up are very low. Show me all of them happening in one game and I'll then agree with you.

But like my opening point, be nice guys. No point defending/attacking each other over a game. Just give an opinion without having to offend people (you must be blind to..., only a fool dose..., ect)
