Lovren doesn't look comfortable at all at all.
Skrtel is carrying him in my opinion and mistakes are inevitable.

Oi! If you wanna talk about Liverpool go to the thread otherwise give us your picks :P

I think you'll find we're talking about how **** Lovren is.

And that poor me has to have him, unless my some miracle a trade occurs.

I had a Red Card as well, and conceded a pen. My defence was **** as well.

I have also completed a deal, Dejan Lovren out, Gervinho in. :)

Okay the deal is confirmed :) can't wait to see the first batch of results!

I'm so stoked to see how this turns out, can't wait to play Yeti as I will need any points I can to get out of my very even looking group. I'll be posting round 1 previews in a bit :)

So many interesting match ups, genuinely stoked to finally be underway!

Round 1 Previews:

Group A:
Matt's Maestros - Lippo's Losers
A very interesting matchup in the group of death, two experienced players will go head to head in a match where defeat is unacceptable.
Carlisle City FC - Waka Waka
Taking advantage of an early pick and getting Ronaldo should help Williams' side against a tough opponent in CraigWL, who had a very decent preseason campaign.

Group B:
Wanyama's in Pyjamas - Multiple Scoregasm FC
Boasting a very taunting name, Bornexplorer looks to take on a relative unknown in Taskers01; however, this will have to wait until next week to be played, as Taskers is on vacation. Nevertheless, should be a very interesting way to end the first round.
Blink-1 Eto'o - Mendez Marauders
Possibly the game of the round, two heavyweights, Stonecold and Brendn, are set to take on each other, knowing that a loss could seriously hurt their chances in the group and overall seedings. This is the Premier Match of the Round, and all eyes should be watching for the result.

Group C:
The Angry Burritos - Gegenpressers FC
This is a very interesting matchup, because both of these players have chosen strong teams and have experience playing, so anything can go here. For this reason, this has been labelled the Underdog Match of the Round.
Spartak Bosco - Out_on_Bale
Nomadic, better known as Zacram's cousin, will look to make his own name on the site against a serious dark horse for the title, Disclaimer. Two very even sides with a lot to lose in this match.

Group D:
Living on FM FC - Sunlight Sky
With his only online experience being an 8-1 drubbing in the FM-Base Knockout Cup, Yiliang probably has the lower odds to win this match against a very experienced single-player gamer, Lewie. However, the latter has had a rather poor preseason, so all the pressure is on him to perform in this tournament.
PFC Sporting - Stuntcock FC
One of the most intriguing matches of the round, FM-Base Ashes player Yeti01 is set to take on Mkmillwall, the host of the tournament. This result could make or break the group, as Mkmillwall has had a very good preseason campaign, yet has much less experience in FM Multiplayer play than Yeti.

Tell me what you think guys, thoughts on the round ahead?

WAKA WAKA AND CARLISLE CITY OPEN FMBASE WORLD CUP WITH ENTERTAINING DRAW

View attachment 233545

Carlisle City (Blue QPR) staged a late comeback to thwart a desperately unlucky Waka Waka (Red QPR)side.

Waka Waka made a commanding start to the game and took the lead after 20 minutes when Franck Ribery burst past the challenge of Philipp Lahm before sliding a left footed shot under the dive of Vincent Enyeama.

Carlisle City should have restored parity just after the hour mark when an incisive pass from Gonzalo Higuain found the run of Danny, but the Portugese winger fired his close range shot well wide, much to the disgust of the CCFC bench.

Waka Waka would make Carlisle City pay for that miss, but in controversial fashion, after Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to dive following a challenge from Jeremy Toulalan inside the area. Ronaldo stepped up and confidently converted into the bottom left corner.

Danny had another great chance to get a goal back just after the restart, but opted to shoot from a tight angle instead of squaring across goal. Waka Waka came forward again in the 69th minute, but Ribery's effort was thwarted by a last ditch tackle by Lahm following a superb ball from James Rodriguez. The resulting corner found its way to Gael Clichy, who dinked a cross to the far post and found Gerard Pique, who somehow managed to strike the post from 6 yards.

Carlisle City gave themselves a fighting chance in the 73rd minute, when Higuain latched onto a through ball from Yaya Toure, his effort was superbly denied by a sliding tackle from Matteo Musacchio, but the ball fell kindly to substitute Arda Turan, who poked into an empty net.

Waka Waka would concede again in the 80th minute in bizarre fashion, as Clichy incredibly managed to chip the ball over his own keeper from the penalty spot following an Alessio Cerci corner.

Waka Waka had a number of decent opportunities in the game, but some great saves from Enyeama kept Carlisle City in the game, and ultimately saw them ****** a point.

CCFC MOTM: Gonzalo Higuain
WW MOTM: Cristiano Ronaldo

Thanks to Jamie for the game, a pleasure to play against, the chat was very light hearted throughout and a good laugh. I sincerely apologise again to him for stealing a point out of the game! Can't complain too much though, a point from the opening game isn't too shabby!
