Sorry about the confusion my other guide caused, but I made it myself, with layout of http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/f71/west-ham-united-the-definitive-guide-t43994.html and Wikipedia. For this I will use the same.

Barnsley Guide

Barnsley.png

Hey, here is my guide of Barnsley for FM10. I have managed Barnsley for some years, and have done quite well with them, I hope my guide will help. I plan to make a guide for every Championship club, then Seria A, Liga BBVA, ect. I will have to play a few seasons with the clubs though. Also there will be no Premiership guides as I think there are loads on the site.

Information:

Nation - England

Year Founded - 1887

Status - Professional.

Reputation - National

Major Rivals - Sheff Wed, Huddersfield, Sheff Utd, Leeds, Doncaster, Rotherham

Club Legends - Neil Redfeam

Club Icons - Ronny Gavlin, Joe Joyce

Clubs Favoured Personnel - Danny Wilson, Ashley Ward

Media Prediction - 22nd

Club Captain - Steve Foster

Estimated Value - £7m

Balance - £1.7m

Transfer Budget: £120k - Minimum Expectation - Avoid Relagation

Wage Budget: Minimum Expecation - Avoid Relegation - £64k p/w
(Researched Myself, took me some time aswell.)

History (Wiki):

Barnsley Football Club are a professional English football club based in the town of Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Nicknamed the Tykes, they were founded in 1887 under the name Barnsley St. Peter's. The club colours are red and white, and their home ground since 1888 has been Oakwell.

Squad:

Goalkeepers:

Luke Steele

David Prece

You should really play Divid Prece in goal, as he is the best out of the two, he is a great player, however if you want you could make a loan deal from one of the top clubs (See Transfers.)

Defenders:

Bobby Hassell

Rob Kozluk

O'Neil Thompson

Saud Filekovic

Defenders are average at the club. I definately think for all Championship clubs loan deals are the best way out of the situation, however you can still find a few good players, to suit your team. I reccomend that sho start with: Saud Filekovic - LB, Rob Kozlok - RB, O'Neil Thompson - DC and Steve Foster - DC however I will add a potential starting lineup later in the thread.

Midfielders:

Adam Hamill

Ian Hume

Julian Gray

Jamal Campbell-Ryce

Martin Devaney

Jacob Butterfield

Jordan Hibbert

Anderson Silva

Hugo Colace

The club has decent midfielders, definately try to keep Adam Hamill as he turns out to be a star for the club. I found a few free transfers that can benifit the side, however I think a few Championship players from higher reputation clubs should satify your needs. Julian Grey is also decent, so I would stick with them two.

Attackers:

Daniel Bogdanovic

John Macken

Andy Gray

Any decent club should definately have a few strikers. Three wont cover it, as injuries may occur causing your team to fail and having to change formation which could seriously damage your teams harmony. Again a few loans should sort this out, and if anything really bad happens, you can take advantage of the short term loan signings rule.

Possible Transfers:

As I have said you should try and take advantage of loan signings. These can really help out your team in the short term, and if you manage promotion, you will gain alot of money, and eventually maybe buy those players and more. I ended up 8th in my first season. I only played one, but narrowly missed out on playoffs, which is good for a team expected to get relegated, so I hope this guide gets you there. ;)

GK's:

Grzegorz Szamotulski - Free

Oscar Moens - Free

I am sad to say there arn't many good loan signings for the club. The best I can reccomend is bid for some prem reserve goalies. Sorry, if anyone has any surgestions, please put them foward and I will add to OP.

Defenders:

Zé Maria - Free - Exellent player if you can manage to get him, he is old, but still really good!

Alex Perez - Free

Jorge Soto - Free (Might struggle with WP, but still is great!)

Rudi Skacel - Free

Jero - Free

Steve Olfers - Free

Perrier-Doumbe - Free

Dorian Dervite - Loan - Tottenham

Rhys Williams - Loan - Middleborough

Richie De laet - Loan - Man Utd

Cirian Clark - Loan - Aston Villa

Sol Campbel - Free (If you are lucky) (10.0)

Iván Campo - Free || (10.0)

Midfielders:

Laraudo - Free

Seyfo Soley - Free

Edgar Davids - Free

A. Kabous - Free

Van Der Meyde - Free

Gareth Williams - Free

Mihizrat - Free

Idiákez - Free

Daniel Pacheco - Loan

Sean Scannel - Loan

(There are too many to list, just use player search)

Strikers:

Again player search has loads of options for loans.

Christian Vieri - Free

Parrado - Free

Francisco - Free

Lee Mathews - Free

Michael Bridges - Free

Mark Viduka - Free

Positions:

Tactics:

I would reccomend a 4-4-2, here are some tactics I have found to help you out:

I had a talk with Jake, and there is no problem with this. (Well there shouldn't be. :S)

Oh yeah, and I will try to make aguide everyday with a different club in alphabetical order.

Great guide, should stop the numerous threads with those struggling to manage Barnsley :)

seriously mate, there are not many people who are playing as Barnsley right now - i think it's best to only do Prem teams :(

Great guide though :D

There are already ones on prem teams, and people would acuse me of copying others like the Barcelona one, which I didn't copy.

Darren Moore is at Burton Albion on the latest update XD

to he honest, and this is just my opinion, but i think you should be going into much more detail about the players in the side. have started slowly writing a guide for united for fm11. you should be going into detail about each player, talking about their strengths, weaknesses. their personality and how its affected by various teamtalks, talk about what kinds roles each player prefers or is suited to.

This then sets the stage for you to talk about how they currently come together as a sides, then talk about the overall strengths and weaknesses of the side. Then you into depth on the background, how string is the coaching setup, the club youth standards finances etc.

the guide should allow the reader to see the players and start to be able to form some sort of of tactical framework in hisher head fairly quickly

Thanks, I will edit. Anyway it is an insignifigant name in the squad.

Yes, I totally understand, but this is a starter for when Fm11 comes out and I will adapt then.

If you decide to do a Derby one, I'd be more than happy to give you loads off info etc.

fair enough, and i fully admit what ive said is much easier said than done.

its a very good start though, and a good choice away from from the usual big sides, especially when you consider how many people ask for help with lower league sides

why???

Just because they're from Yorkshire, doesn't mean they don't know how to click download?

Not because of that, I am just saying some people may not have the latest update, so I included them, I will put in brackets '(10.0)' if you want?

I'm a Barnsley boy born and bred, Always choose them in Management games if they're in it, I approve of this thread as I usually have trouble first season, though I'm in 2017 in my game, got them to the Prem 2nd season, relegated next but got them back and kept them in the past 2 seasons, just takes me some time getting some decent players.

Please, it's 'probably', not 'proberly' :S

And if you're adapting it for FM11 then Campbell and Campo will definitely have clubs.

Okay. And you never know, they may be realesed :P

On Fm11 I will change everything to adapt to 11.0

Mate when I did a Barnsley story I did the tactic of 4-2-3-1. This got me promoted in the first season. Did not sign or sell anyone.
