Reading part ways with Brenden Rogers.

After just 32 days in charge Brenden Rogers and Reading have parted ways after an alleged pre-season bust up with a member of the back room staff and chairman Sir John Madejski..

Rumours surrounding the Madejski is that the club are opting for a manager for the future that has a pride and passion for the club to succeed and bounce back from thier playoff defeat to Burnley and rise to the Premier League once again..

I'll be following mate, Reading are my Home team. Reading ftw :)

I'll follow used to live in woodley reading and born their

Madejski unveils new manager.

Without hesistation John Madejski this morning unveiled unknown Jamie Rolfe as the clubs new manager.

Speaking at a conference with his new manager Madejski spoke with great confidence that is his words that Rolfe was his "Manager for the future!"

Now with the club aiming for Premier League football once again is this to much of a burden to place on a unknown semi-pro footballer.

Madejski said this "I feel I have found the right manager for the CLUB. I understand that Rolfe isn't well known within the professional game but he has had some previous experience at a semi-pro level and I have faith in his ability to rise this club once again."

After we had a chance to talk to the new main man at the Madejski, When asked what his feeling were about the suprise appointment heres what he had to say.

"I delighted to have a chance to manage my hometown club and hope I can bring great success back to this stadium, Were not long ago I was seating and watching in awe at the players I am now about to manage."

When asked how the appointment came about he replied.

"Well, I guess I am what the club was looking for a manager with pride in his work and an eagerness to return to the top flight of football."

With the fans abit skeptical at the decision it is now on Rolfe to prove the decision was the right one for the chairman, club and most importantly the FANS!

A new era at the Madejski..

Within hours of taken the job new Reading manager Jamie Rolfe has signalled his intentions and base for the future.

Speaking in a press conference he wasn't shy in stating his plans for the squad by openingly discussing his chosen formations and his key player Gylfi Sigurdsson.

"I intend to use a home 4-4-2 and an away 4-2-3-1"

Rolfe's first signing.

Reading manager Jamie Rolfe has had talks with West Ham and agreed a loan switch for 19 year old English right back Jordan Spence.

I am delighted a deal could be decided and Jordan will initially be cover for Griffin at right back with a chance to push for a first team place if he can perform well.

Hopefully this will last a good amount of time, rather than the other Reading stories that last about, 10 minutes..

Good Luck Mate, UUURRRRRRZZZZZZZZ! ;)

It's only pre-season

Here are results from my pre-season friendlies.

Basingstoke 0 - 3 Reading
(Church, Rasiak, Long)
Good first game win but would have liked a bigger margin, Nice to see the strikers scoring hopefully it continues in the league.

Reading 3 - 0 GH Academy
(Tabb, Church, Cisse)
Worryingly late goals all after 70 mins but it is only pre-season so take the positives two 3-0 wins and Church scoring.

Didcot 0 - 8 Reading
(Chruch, Sigurdsson, Cisse 2, Rasiak, McAnuff, Hunt 2)
Nice win key player Gylfi opens his account for me be at in a friendly.

Lincoln 0 - 2 Reading
(Henry, Church)
Another clean sheets and Church goal.

York 1 - 2 Reading
(Kebe, Rasiak)
Disappointing to concede in my final friendly but positives are no injury before the campaign and the free scoring Simon Church.

Rolfe's second and final signing.

I manage to agree a deal for John Fleck on a season-long loan beating out competition from WBA, QPR and Watford.

He will act as cover for four position (AML/R, AMC, ST) as he is accomplished at all postions.

I have also loaned out Hal Robson-Kanu to Huddersfield for 6 months for some first time experience as I feel he can figure in the new year if I pick up injuries.

Carling Cup

The Carling Cup 1st round draw gave me an away tie to Northampton Town. "COBBLERS!"

Bring on the season

With friendlies and squad cover sorted I am happy to begin the real stuff with only two first team injuries Ingimarrson and Gunnarsson.

Hope you have enjoyed so far.
Will be posting the first month sortly.

August 2009

Reading 3 - 1 N'Forest
(Gunter o.g, Kebe, Sigurdsson)
Great start to the season against one of the favourites for promotion, Must admit I love seeing Sig scoring. :D

Carling Cup 1st Round

Northampton 0 - 3 Reading
(Henry, Church 2)
Confident performance Simon Church bagging two but disappionting to lose Jem Karacan and Jay Tabb for 4-5 weeks but theres now a chance for Brian Howard and James Henry to earn a starting place.
I have been drawn against Crystal Palace at home in the next round.

Newcastle 2 - 0 Reading
Not a good performance from the boys but it is Newcastle away never a easy place to go St. James. Also lost Simon Church to a strained knee ligament for 8 weeks, John Fleck now has a chance to shine with Hunt out aswell.

Swansea 3 - 2 Reading
(Kebe, McAnuff)
Decent first half but fell apart during a 10 minute spell in the second half that lead to two Swansea goals, But both wingers scored so every cloud I suppose.

Reading 0 - 1 Sheffield United
Not a bad performance decent amount created but any home lose is disappionting, Positives were that it was a wonder goals that won it.

Carling Cup 2nd Round

Reading 4 - 1 Crystal Palace
(Cisse, Fleck, Smith o.g, Rasiak)
Dominate peformance from the lads, Hopefully cup form can turn to league wins.
Drawn again at home against Tranmere in the third round

Barnsley 1 - 3 Reading
(Kebe, Rasiak, McAnuff)
Went for a more attacking formation and reaped the benefits.

Currently sitting 14th four points of the playoffs and nine points of top hopefully things will improve with players returning and everyone getting used to the system.

International break needed fingers crossed no injuries.

Reading player of the month - Jimmy Kebe - 3 goals/2 assists in the league

END OF AUGUST

Sigurdsson make his internationl debut in Iceland's 2-1 win over Georgia were Gunnarsson also featured.

Back to league business

Reading 2 - 1 Doncaster
(Fleck, Kebe)
Sluggish return to the league after internationals but a good second half display helped get the valuble three points.

Reading 3 - 3 Cardiff
(Rasiak 2, Fleck)
Great game it had everything and Rasiak is showing some good form.

Peterborough 1 - 0 Reading
Woeful performance, Newspapers and fans are starting to question the appointment of Jamie Rolfe as manager.

Fantastic performance from Henry as we met expectations and advance to the fourth round.

Finally a league performance to match the cup games, Hope this kind of performance continues.

Preston 2 - 2 Reading
(Kebe, Long)
Tough trip to the north-east happy to come away with a draw and finally Long scoring under my managment.

I end September an improved 9th place, 4 points off the playoffs and 10 off top.

Reading player of the month - Jem Karacan - 1 goals and 4 assists great month for the Turkish youth international.

END OF SEPTEMBER

Nice layout, maybe you could not attach the images, but upload them to Imageshack, copy URL and when posting, click the little image icon, post the pictures for m there and put it between text lines, not to the end. It would be easier to read then. Great story, otherwise :)

October 2009

Reading 1 - 3 Middlesbrough
(Long)
Woeful performance at a packed Madejski Stadium, Plenty of chances but just not converted.

International Break

Blessing or Burden for the Royals?

Henry plays well in Scotland under 21's 0-0 draw with Belguim under 21's but then disappionts in a 3-1 lose to Portugal under 21's

Jem Karacan was also in under 21's duty playing well against Moldova in a 2-0 win then captaining the Turkish under 21's in a 4-1 win against Wales in Antayla.

Elsewhere Gylfi Sigurdsson scores his first international goal in only his second appearence from the spot in a 4-0 win over Andorra where Gunnarsson also featured again, Gylfi then goes on to make his 3rd cap against South Africa but coming on as a late sub.

Simon Church was also on international duty with the Welsh first team bagging a goal in a 3-0 win over Leichtenstein his first for Wales.

Know for the most important few games of Jamie Rolfe's short career

West Brom 4 - 3 Reading
(Church, Sigurdsson 2)
Rolfe furious with disallowed goal and WBA's blatent offside winner. A what would have been fantastic win soured by a pair of terribly decisions what could end up costing the Reading manager his job.

Pressure grows on Rolfe

With many of the media personal suggesting a bad result against QPR could spell the end of Rolfe's reign at the Madejski, Many fans have been calling for Rolfe's head.

QPR 2 - 4 Reading
(Mills, Fleck, Hunt Long)
Rolfe's boys hit back with a laboured win over QPR which helps ease pressure for the time being atleast.

Reading 3 - 0 Leicester
(Hobbs o.g, Henry, Church)
Loyal Royals finally get a confident home display with some great creative attacking play on sunday afternoon.

Carling Cup 4th round

Reading 1 - 2 Wolves
(Church)
Players show a fantastic fighting performance but yet again let down by ref's with blatent penalty for a foul on Kebe turned down and a late late goal with only 1 minute stoppage time Wolves level in the 92nd minute.

Rolfe states we were robbed by Halsey!

Coventry 0 - 0 Reading
Carling cup hangover effects players in a disappointing 0-0 with bottom of the league Coventry.

With an end to arguably the toughest month for the Reading team they finish 11th but have close the playoff gap to 3 points.

Reading and Championship player of the month Gylfi Sigurdsson managed 2 goals in 3 games along with 3 assists in a fantastic month or the Icelandic international.

END OF OCTOBER

November 2009

"Decision time"

With the season into it's fourth month it's a pivetal moment for these Reading players and indeed the man in charge of them with only three league game due to internationals the aim is to be in the playoff places by December 1st.

Reading 1 - 0 Ipswich
(Henry)
Poor match with a neat Henry finish the deciding factor is this win a sign of things to come in November?

International Duty

James Henry plays for Scotland under 21's in a disappointing game were he failed to make an impact in a 1-0 lose to the Faroe Islands under 21's, But has a solid game in a 2-0 win against Hungary under 21's a few days later.

Jem Karacan was also on under 21 duty playing well as a sub in Turkeys 3-3 draw with Bulgaria.

Meanwhile Gylfi Sigursson was once again winning another cap coming off the bench to step up a goal in a 3-0 win for Iceland over Poland, Then playing in a close fought 1-0 lose to Uruguay, Gunnarsson also featured.

Also making full international appearences were Noel Hunt for Ireland and Simon Church for Wales but were both uninspiring in 1-1 and 0-0 draws then days later a 1-1 draw and 5-0 lose respectively.

Back to the promotion push.

Reading 4 - 0 Blackpool
(Church 2, Cisse, Hunt)
A change of tactics boost the promotion push with a performance that showed Premier League class with Hunt scoring the pick of the goals a 25 yarder, Plus a clean sheet to go with it.

n4readingvblackpoolpng

Derby 1 - 1 Reading
(Hunt)
On a cold wet afternoon at Pride Park Henry sees red for Reading after a pair of bad challenges, Elsewhere Commons had put Derby ahead before Hunt equalized midway through the first half. With the second half a srcappy affair was Derby who had a late chance but Leacocks strike hit the bar.

END OF NOVEMBER

December 2009

Is the festive cheer around the Madejski?

After a successful november we caught up with the Royals manager here what he had to say,
"I'm proud of the way the players were able to responsed to the critics and give the fans something to cheer about, The next six games come thick and fast over the christmas period with three home games against Palace, Scunny, Swansea and inbetween a couple of tricky away games at Aston Gate against Bristol then down to Devon for Plymouth. This month will really show the players character and maybe they'll be a extra present in their christmas stockings...

Sheffield Wednesday 0 - 1 Reading
(Sigurdsson)
In the december sunshine over Hillsborough an early goal from Gylfi Sigurdsson was the difference between the two sides though Wednesday sure made Reading work for their victory.

n6sheffwedvreadingpng

Reading 2 - 0 Crystal Palace
(Church, Griffin)
On a windy night at the Madejski it was Reading who provided the performance in a 2-0 win over struggling Palace, The pick of the goals being from right back Andy Griffin he had a fine game.

Vintage display eases pain from the home defeat to Scunthorpe, An inspired performance from Simon Church bagging a fantastic solo effort.

All Rolfe wanted for christmas was this 3 points with quality finishing today as Simon Church continue his impressive run. Youngster Karacan also scores with a curling effort, Swansea have a player sent off but has no impact.

Reading 0 - 1 Sheffield Wednesday
Reading crash out of the FA cup after a poor showing on a rainy afternoon in Berkshire.

nareadingvsheffwedpng

After the game Rolfe had this to say...
"At the start of the season I was given a target of promotion, The chairman wasn't interested in cup runs but I gave them one in the Carling Cup but FA proved to be to much for us, I still believe we are on course this season and only having the league to focus on can only be a good thing."

Rolfe sells Armstrong to Wigan

Reading have agreed a 1.5 million pound deal to sell left back Chris Armstrong to Premier League side Wigan.
Madejski and Rolfe both agreed "The offer was to good to turn down and wished Chris all the best for the future."

February 2010

Alot of possitives can come from this month as we have 4 league games against on paper weaker opponents in Doncaster (A), Plymouth (H), Crystal Palace (A) and Sheffield Wednesday (H) although inbetween that there is a tricky home tie against a resurged Derby County and a tough away trip to Blackpool.

"FAN DAY"

Reading 3 - 0 Plymouth
(Church 2, Karacan)
After a poor first half at the Madejski Stadium the game came to life in a six minute second half spell in which Reading scored all 3 of their goals, A Chruch brace and a cool Karacan finsh proved the difference.
Reaction from fan day was very prositive with the hope of an increased future fan base.

n3readingvplymouthpng

Reading 2 - 0 Derby
(Cisse, Church)
Bleak miserable weather at the Madejski and Derby wern't much better as they are swept aside by a confident Reading side with Cisse netting the opener followed by Church's 15th league goal.

5zreadingvderbypng

Crystal Palace 3 - 2 Reading

Disappointing away trip in a midweek fixture as a Danny Rose hat-trick provides the downfall altough Reading were able to mount a comeback from 3-0 down but fell just short.

0acrystalpalacevreadingpng

Blackpool 3 - 2 Reading

(Kebe, Church)
Good performance although a win was what we deserved, Rasiak had a goal disallowed yet again after goals from Kebe and Church had us in a good postion before QPR's levellers after oth Reading goals, I was disappointed to see Sigurdsson missing a penalty but he's been great all season.
