FM14 disk read error

Steam is telling me that i need an update for fm14, i click play to start the update it does 100% and the it tells me
an error occurred while updating football manager 2014 (disk read error)

uninstall the game and reinstall it

you think this will work? ill have to wait until im home, im on holiday and flying home tomorrow its been fine since i first got it, my laptop started doing some other stuff and its gone wrong, it wouldnt let me play a game earlier just sent me back to my desktop
