Good luck mate but why is this in the tactics forum?

ha i didn't realise it was, i couldn't remember how to put into stories... woops hopefully people will still find it here..

Pre season and Transfer updates,
I saw pre season as a chance to find a regular first team player for all positions, but also experimented with formations and tactics, i started off with an attacking 4-5-1 formation with JP Woody's tactics, and although it was a decent result against my reserve team, the finishing was poor and it was a scrappy game, i invested in a couple of players and my results began to improve with a move to 4-4-2; however 1/2-0 wins against non league opposition wasnt good enough, so i turned to a narrow 4-3-3 with Lambert as a target man playing in two poachers...
Saints free *****
Southampton today confirmed the signing of ***** Topp on a free transfer, his contract was nearing an end at Jumilla who decided not to renew it, it is thought 50k compensation will be due.
with a budget to spend, manager Joe Bennett wasted no time in utilising his boards generosity, signing CBs Mathius Vivian previously of FC Metz and Lucien Mettomo.

BENNETT ENTERS THE LIONS DEN FOR HIS FIRST CHALLENGE
Bennett will today take his team to St. Mary's for their first competitive fixture under the rookie manager. First up for the Saints are Millwall, but is Joe Bennett up for the Herculaen challenge that lies before him. Southampton entered administration last season, and as a result find themselves bottom with -10 points. Can Bennett achieve his aim of promotion via the playoffs?

2-0 SAINTS IN HEAVEN
Southampton produced a good display to see off the challenge of Milwall at home, a low cross from left back Jacob Mills found an unmarked Lallana who tapped in to give them the lead before half time. Debutant Ricky Lambert added another with a powerful finish shortly after the break.
Milwall never looked like getting a goal back, in part due to a solid defence and midfield winning the ball back high up the pitch. I am pleased with the boys, i expected this to be a tough game but we cruised through it comfortably, i think big pre season wins and a big part to play and they looked calm and confident out there.

good luck with this, lambert and waigo are amazing, offload lallana and get kanta, trust me hes 10 times better and hes cheaper

Lallana was superb for me at Preston playing in the Gerrard role,he got voted player of the year and scored 15 goals with a 7.something rating.

anyone know how to close a poll?
what is the gerrard role, i like lallana he had a rly good pre season too.
I have a save game with preston too, buy Bruno from Murcia on the cheap and also david n'gog on loan. rly good for me :)

trust joe on southampton hes got a good thread going with them, and i did a southampton save and kanta is 10 times better, hes a better finisher and he works harder also, and hes possibly the best passer ive ever had in my team, get him trust me

I don't see the point in doing Leeds as they are pretty much a play a season and your in the championship without changing much. So i voted Charlton

Good luck, will do my best following this "tactic". I'm doing a similar story myself only in France.

SAINTS MADE TO WORK FOR VICTORY
Southampton produced a good display this evening to see off hard working Brighton & Hove Albion. Goals from the edge of the area from Darron Gibson (debutant) and Rickie Lambert ensured a 2-1 victory.

I am pleased with the effort we put in today, having gone one nil up early, Vivian made a mistake in trying to win the ball back in their half! they countered with a long 50 yeard pass forward and equalised through Forster but other than that we restricted their chances very well and could have had more if our finishing had been better, this is certainly a good result as we are in the next round of the Carling Cup but we need to improve aspects of our game. :)

I play as Lewes, managed get Adam Phillips(ST) from Chelsea on loan which is very useful ^^

Good luck i managed second place comfotably with southampton first season
