Adieu Pardew

It is reported today that Alan Pardew, the reigning Premier League Manager of the Season and LMA Manager of the Year, has been relieved of his managerial duties at St. James’ Park despite achieving tremendous success during the 2011 – 2012 season.

Pardew, who is currently unavailable for comment, is due a significant back pay since his contract is believed to run up to 2017.

The timing of the sack did not make sense to most of the footballing world especially when one takes into account the success brought upon by the 51 year old manager last season. With the squad on an upswing and a EUROPA League campaign looming, Newcastle is on the verge of breaching the Premier League’s top 4 perch.

Yes, it is a baffling decision indeed. Baffling enough that the supporters are prepared to barricade the gates to St. James’ Park (apparently, they view the NUFC board as incompetent gun toting slingers who, for the thousandth time, managed to shoot themselves on the foot).

The fans’ angst is understandable since Pardew brought in a successful transfer system and playing methodology that appealed to most fans.
